I will be getting 1 intank media basket and from what I've been researching ppl really enjoy the cad lights pls-50 skimmer to put in the other media chamber. My main question is how do you guys and gals run and configure your media chambers?? Link to comment
NanoBiscuit Posted June 10, 2014 Share Posted June 10, 2014 Awesome! I moved over from a biocube 29g to the same JBJ Rimless 30 and I love it. Right now I have filter floss with chaeto on one side and then on the other I am running filter floss, Purigen, and Chemipure Elite. So far it has been working well. I had my biocube running skimmer-less for a few months with weekly water changes and no problems so I have continued the same routine with the JBJ. I might eventually add the CAD skimmer if I can find one lightly used for a good price but so far I have been really happy. Link to comment

I just put the LR in tonight with the sand to cycle, picked up the jeabo wp10 and so far I like it allot great water movement from such a small pump and my lfs had it for a great price to boot! HOTWATER Posted July 9, 2014 Author Share Posted July 9, 2014 Yes else mode on s1 is my favorite as well. I feel like it best simulates the ocean. I also like w1 set at about 11:00. Tanks been cycling for weeks now everything's in line did a water change last night of 5 gallons and the nitrates are at 10ppm. I added a few zoa frags from the 8gal and everything seems to be doing well. I'm having a buddy who's getting Into the hobby come pick up the 8gal on fri. So little by little this week I'll be moving all the livestock over in the next few days. Link to comment

My current set up for filtration is as follows, left return running the PLS-50, on the right return I'm running a custom media caddy similar to in tank. I have filterfloss pad, followed by a coarse sponge followed by chemipure elite and then ceramic rings. I'm planning on removing the rings for some chaeto/mini fuge. That's about it and weekly 5 gallon water changes. Keep us posted on the progress and let's see some pics! Link to comment

How long has your tank been running for and what are your thoughts on the cad skimmer?? I'm thinking of adding one of the IM mini reactors as well with some GFO. I did finally order most of my goodies for this build: Intank media basket Intank poly floss Tunze nano ato Dj power bar (so I can organize and label everything nicely) Brs rox premium carbon Brs gfo Brs screen top kit Clips for top (thanks dan) I am still waiting to order the cad pls-50 elite skimmer (sadly I didn't win the free drawing And I will soon be ordering one of the IM nano reactors to run the gfo. I need to do some measuring of the refugium column, as I feel the midsize model would be more effective than the desktop model if it will fit. Link to comment

I didn't want to not use the tank so I decided on using it for my petricola catfish. So far I've had no issues with it and have been pretty happy Link to comment

Lfs I worked at was going under, and sold me the store display tank, stand, and led for less than the price of the tank. THATS WHY! Lol. I couldn't pass up the deal and I was ready to upsize from the 8. If I had the cash at the time the 45 obviously would. Have been my top choice. No problem man glad I could help. I actually Love the dimensions of the 30 a lot better. It's kind of a cubeish rectangle and not too deep, I also got a great buy on it. With Nano Reef'n bigger isn't always better. B) Link to comment
HOTWATER Posted July 31, 2014 Author Share Posted July 31, 2014 Finally installed the tunze nano ato, it's pretty awesome I have it rigged to a 5 gal jug for my top off, I also Picked up a blue spotted jawfish for a good price at the lfs 2 days ago as well, little guy is already munching nls Thera +a and ocean nutrition formula 2 with gusto. Every one seems to be doing really good, other than a green hair algae outbreak. I know it's been due to my lighting schedule since I've been fish less since 3 days ago. Link to comment
