QT questions

Pretty basic questions here but... I just picked up a Multicolor lubbock's fairy wrasse and a green chromis, put them in my 10G QT tank today.

1. How long to QT? I was thinking 3-4 weeks starting today.

2. I put a 3lb rock from my DT into the QT since I am not going to be using copper or any other treatments such as that, if anything I may use TTM if I spot ich. (The store I bought from has an extremely good reputation for not having ich issues.)

I may add more questions later but for now that's what I have right off hand.

1. 4 is probably plenty, should give you enough time to spot disease if any shows up.

2. Is this a question? I'm assuming you're asking if the rock is okay in the QT, which it is. Keep in mind, if the fish turn out to have ich, the rock (IMO) should be considered infected. What is TTM? Hope I helped.

Thanks, that's very helpful. On 2., woops, meant to ask if that was okay to do. I'm not worried about it getting infected if they do have ich, because it's going to stay in the QT for the rest of the summer, which should definitely be a long enough fallow time. (these are my last fish)

Yep that is the plan since I don't happen to have a sponge filter that is seeded etc. My thought was the rock would help keep levels in check pretty well in the mean time.

Was doing some work on my DT and realized filter floss would likely be seeded... I added that to the spare HOB filter I have on the QT, along with some clean floss, so far no ammonia and I think Nitrate is ~5-10 currently. Both fish are doing nicely, the wrasse is starting to be a bit less shy finally.

The ich in my angel didn't show up until week three, so... Yeah, 4 weeks is the normal minimum duration to see if it is present.

I got paranoid and I'm doing tank transfer treatment on them regardless, I also pulled the rock out to let it dry for a few weeks.
