aviator300
The clear, hair like stuff on this frag has been plaguing my 2 tanks for months now and i'm unsure what it is. I would think it is either Hair algae or Bryopsis but really doesn't look like photos iv'e seen of either one. Maybe it's from outer space . Whatever it is, it only seems to grow on rock or frag plugs and wont pull off without breaking but will grow to at least 3 or 4" long if I leave it alone. It has no branching but is just one long filament. I did a 50/50 h2o2 dip right after i took the photo today for 2 min. Does anyone know what it is and how to treat it other than the h2o2 dip? aviator300
Thanks for the reply. I always thought that the GHA strands were more coarse and grew in tufts but these are thinner than a human hair and are not green at all. They also grow as single hairs and not tufts. Assuming you're right, the peroxide dip was the thing to do and i will raise my mag which is at 1340 already. I still would like to hear many more opinions and thank y'all very much. Link to comment
tetraodon
bryopsis looks more like a fern than a strand, take a stiff brush to the plug after the peroxide dip Link to comment
