NYCrooner
Recently my tank has been cloudier and cloudier with what appears to be an infestation of Copepods. At first I thought I might be having some dust particles from live rock so I blasted it followed by 50% water twice a week. Few days later Copepods where back. Then I checked to see if it was maybe micro air bubbles. So I emptied half the tank and let the water from the output nozzle pour into a glass cup. Clear as day. Now when I wake up this morning, the water column, glass and substrate are overrun with this white specs. I mean what must be millions. I know Copepods aren't a bad thing but it's starting to become unattractive. Anything I can or should do to control the population? I hate how foggy my tank looks. Check out video where I try to capture it. It's an iphone so bare with me: Link to comment
Boggers
First question, are you going to put corals and fish in there? Both will eat pods. Next, its not uncommon to get an explosion in the begining and it will even out as the food gets eaten. Link to comment
NYCrooner
This is actually going to be an inverts only tank. I've always really loved inverts and feel like they get lost in my reef tank (29 gln Biocube). So I created a place where they are the focus, the stars of the show. However now I'm thinking the Copepods will have no natural predator in this tank since that you mentioned it. Link to comment
jedimasterben
I see air bubbles/particulates. Copepods in our tanks are benthic. Link to comment
