Leather problem

I have a big green toadstool leather with 2 heads. Over the last 2 weeks I noticed a white spot in one of the heads with loss of polyps in that area only. This has since gotten a bit larger (1/2 inch) and now there's a hole in the middle. What could this be and what should I do? The rest of the leather looks fine with polyp extension.

Is it splitting? I know my pink cabbage leather grew out onto an adjacent rock, then decided to split itself in half, which left a part of the coral looking a bit strange and white for awhile.

Could be, but the last time it split it seemed different, there was no hole in the middle of the white part. The rest of the coral looks real healthy so it could be the case.

I have a green toadstool that started out with a white spot and then it split. I thought the spot was from the fish bothering it so I moved it to another tank the same thing is happening. It is common for kenya trees drop branches but I don't know if this is common for toadstools.
