davidawiesner
I am approaching the end of my 3x2x2 90g build and after a year or so of tinkering I have come up with my final lighting plan. I picked up a infiniti 24" 250w x4 T5 fixture a month ago and was just going to run that, but then a broken gen 1 radion fell into my lap. so i figured why not combine them and make a crazy MH/T5/led fixture. PLAN OF ATTACK 1. The giesemann fixture has all 220v ballasts and uses a transformer to boost the 110v to supply them. I will be removing the internal MH ballast and running an external galaxy digital ballast as well as replacing the T5 ballasts with new HEP units. 2.Fabricate custom heatsinks to slide into fixture replacing the perforated metal screen that is there now. 3.Install fans for thermal management for Led's 4.Install, wire it all up and turn it on. Here is the stock giesemann fixture running over my current 40B I got the radion pucks up and running with ldd's and typhoon last night I replaced the xpe royal blues with xte royal blues and might change out some of the other diodes but for now they are good to go. The rest of the parts and misc things needed should be here by end of next week. Being as this is my first actual and not in my mind light build if anyone has any suggestions I would more than welcome them, oh and thanks for your time. Link to comment

farkwar
what controller is that with the flat grey cable? ReefLED Labs Its wireless and you control it with your Android tablet and/or phone. Its so small you just tuck it up into the light. It can run at any voltage you have for your LEDs, so it diesnt need a separate power supply. http://reefll.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=65_67&product_id=64 Link to comment

farkwar
Well those are new boards. Best guess, 4 channel now, with 2 mounting spots for optional violets?. Link to comment
davidawiesner
They are nanobox V3 boards, Dave posted about them a couple days ago with layout and other info Link to comment
jedimasterben
Well those are new boards. Best guess, 4 channel now, with 2 mounting spots for optional violets?. Where would more violets go? The eight solder pads for wiring are on the bottom, the others are jumpers for two channel operation for those that don't want four. Link to comment
Paleoreef103
So are you replacing the two Radion pucks with four nanobox V3 boards? Highly jealous of this light. Link to comment
davidawiesner
well I got them mounted and installed. some shots of the tank and critters, looking better thank ever. I will have to update in a month or so as most of the SPS are pretty dull right now from only being under the T5's for a month while I have been working on the light. Link to comment
