Fixing up my aquascape before the fish go in

Hey guys,

This is what I'm working with right now:

It's a total of 5 rock pieces. The two pieces of live rock on the right, the big vertical in the middle, and the two pieces on the left. This is a 30 gallon tank (IM Nuvo Fusion 30L), but the display portion holds about 21 gallons of water or so.

Tank cycled, and I added my CUC (the snails and such you see in the picture)

Now I know it may be too late to do anything drastic, and I don't want to harm any of my tiny snails by like squishing them, etc. (I grew fond of my little guys, as they were the first livestock put in my tank).

It's just that I keep looking at everyone else's tank and being super impressed.

I assume something like this: http://fish-etc.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/rock-building8-amphitheatre-front.jpg would be pretty difficult to do with my rock setup, since I don't wanna take them out, and cut them up.

I guess maybe it's the big vertical one that I am not digging visually...hmmm

Maybe a different shape would be better on its side. Also, what about using that one as a bridge from the left rock to something on the right, and maybe turn the rocks on the right side so they form an L or something, instead of straight. A part of it a couple inches back, the other forward?

Other option. Break a rock in half maybe.

I think I like your current scape more than the inspirational picture. I'm looking at getting a fusion 30l as well, what type of sand is that and how many lbs did you use?

I guess you could say I overpaid (or newbed it up and bought live sand), but I purchased 20 lbs from BRS:

IMHO, if you were to just remove that middle piece that'd be a gorgeous scape.

Yea, I would totally dig it more without the middle piece, but then I would lose about 8lbs of rock for filtration and what not.

Bumparoooo!!!

I didn't end up changing the scape when I asked this question months ago, but I honestly am still unsatisfied.

I just recently bought 20 frags to glue them on and this tall shape in the middle is probably not going to be the best.

I'm probably going to take it out, cut it into like 3-5 pieces, and put higher height on the left side to come down to a low point, and probably toss like 4lbs into my QT tank because I'll be adding a fish in it this week.

I am the worst.

I decided to do a large water change, and bring out the big rock out to clean out the algae and break it into pieces.

I knew I had limited time before any damage could be done to the beneficial bacteria. I got out my chisel and hammer, and RAMMED it into the rock.

Nothing happened. I chipped a bit of it. A few more strong poundings and the chisel got stuck. I had to wedge it out. Obviously I couldn't do it today. Returned the rock back in the tank and wondering where I went wrong.

I think my chisel was too skinny, It just made a little hole in it and got stuck. I'll pick up a wider one and try again when I do a water change in a few days.
