nismo_sky32
Finally getting a pic off the current tank up. please excuse the quality. My phone doesn't play well with image sites and this is the best quality the forum will let me upload via mobile device Link to comment
owenj
Nice looking tank, but why did you leave the front right corner bare? I recently placed an order for a custom cube from AA so it's nice to see some of his work here. Link to comment
nismo_sky32
The tunze powerhead likes clearing that corner out for me lol. I haven't gotten around to rearranging the rocks to keep it there since adding the powerhead. AA does some great work. Can't wait to see another tank by them on the forum Link to comment
nismo_sky32
Some red zoas Some kind of Hawaiian zoas GSP And my first RFA. Nothing too fancy, my nicest zoas are spidermans that need to open up a little more, but I'll have some nice zoas and a few others on the way soon. Once I have all the equipment to set up my regional biotopes, this will become a frag tank once I get things to grow. Until then it's a learning experience Link to comment
nismo_sky32
Just ordered these rfa from cherry corals And possibly getting this Link to comment

nismo_sky32
Following man! ! Sweet! I think you're my first followers lol. I'll make sure I keep the thread active now Nice build man !!! Everyone always say Midas are forever loving the camera lol. Thanks. Advanced Acrylics did an impressive job on the tank. I love my midas. S/He has the coolest personality of any fish. All saltwater fish have such unique personalities. Way more diverse than any freshwater I've kept Link to comment
Reefkid88
Oh wow,you actually took your chances with (John I think his name is) AA ? I've heard nothing but horrible things about them. It looks amazing though, nonetheless. Very true,I have to agree. Freshwater fish really don't have much personalities. Me and my brother n law have set up 40 breeder as a planted tank numerous times and I have to say Rainbow Sharks ( they just cruise and eat algae all day ) and Rose Barbs have the most personalities out of a lot of the fish. CatfishSoupFTW
the prices of those acrylic tanks, plus shipping to canada rates, is really getting my attention... hows the acrylic? I have never dealt with acrylic tanks before. softness? clarity? vs starfire? I noticed most if not all their tanks, have those rounded edges. does yours? sorry for all the questions lol, i will be following !!! Link to comment
nismo_sky32
From browsing the web I read some bad reviews on AA, mainly customer service, but they were all older. The more recent ones were a lot better and everybody said the quality was good. AA built the tank to the specs I wanted and it was only around a wait time from when I paid until the time the tank showed up on my porch. 1/2" acrylic all around except the 3/8" bottom and false wall. Beveled edges and corners, built in media racks, 4" deep aio area so I have no problems getting my hand back there lol. Link to comment
CatfishSoupFTW
damn. youre only making things worse for mine. I have a 17x13x12, 9.8 gallon rimless starfire, that i have been tempted to upgrade just to have sump, or AIO set up. not sure if ill pull the trigger just yet, but this is swaying me. lol Link to comment

Clarity is better than starfire (although I personally like the slight blue tint on high clarity glass). The rounded edges are standard on his tanks but you can ask John to do square edges or the beveled edges like I got Acrylic is definitely softer and scratches easily. I found this out when I slid the tank across the stand it's on but the scratch is on the bottom so you can't see it Link to comment
CatfishSoupFTW
much thanks on the pics and added info ! never owned acrylic but ... i got to try it sometime. maybe soon. much thanks again. was the wait time big for shipping plus manufacturing? Hopefully yellowing doesnt occur any time soon either. Link to comment

The display area is 19.5 x 19.5. After sand and rocks, I have just over 18 gallons of water in it. The overflow and return areas are 5 x 4, the fuge/middle area is 9 x 4 so I have room for options in the back. Built in media tray is removable. He included two of them(small additional fee) originally had the 9 larger holes and I drilled 16 smaller holes for increased flow Link to comment

Hopefully yellowing doesnt occur any time soon either. Not a problem. Thanks for following along. It's been setup since february and is still as clear as the day I got it. Not sure how long before discoloration sets in but I have read that's not as common with newer acrylic. Took roughly two weeks from the I ordered it until the time I received tank. John kept me posted via text per request and even included build pics Link to comment
CatfishSoupFTW
thats really cool customer service. Yeah i have seen some companies proclaim 10 years guaranteed yellow free, so its good to know their is progress in the acrylic world. now if only they can not make it so soft! Link to comment

I was into breeding African cichlids (started with one tank but the babies wouldn't stop coming) and at one time had 30 something tanks in a basement fish room. I eventually sold off all but my group of synodontis petricola and all the equipment before the transition over to saltwater. Link to comment
