Can sand dollars crash reef tanks?

My friend gave me sand dollar for my 75 gallon tank. I placed it in after the cycling process. I know they bury themselves into the sand bed and sift for detritus. However, when they move from place to place in the sand bed, doesn't it disturb the beneficial bacteria living in it? Similar to stirring the sand up with a stick? My question is, would keeping sand dolllars disrupt the beneficial bacteria living in the sand bed ultimately crashing the tank? Should i throw/ give it away ? or should i keep it?

any help would great be appreciated!!:)

My mom used to bring me back the dead "shells" when she was traveling out to LA.

How long did your friend have it? They need a massive (see oceanic) substrate to survive in the long term, and you and any hobbyist outside a massive tank with a deep substrate will likely kill it.
