Hi I am very interested in this par38 bulb and I would like to know your thoughts to this? So far I have posted this question on Reef Central in equipment's forum but no response as for the item, only other bulb recommendations. I am looking at this as OCreef had it listed on their ebay account and shown a picture of it over the 28" deep tank or so and I loved the colours it produced, but just need to know from a customers point of view and possible pics.

Thank you. ^-^

Thanks 1.0reef

I am still shopping around to see whats available, so far no real experience from for this bulb however plenty of links to some other good looking par38's. I'm really trying to be careful on which bulb I purchase as I purchased one before and it just looked Waaay too purple. But found out someone else had one exact same and there's was much whiter in the pics so this one turned out to be faulty either whites were too dim or something.

I highly doubt that lamp is 54W. More likely a marketing trick, seeing that 18 (number of LEDs) times 3 (3W class LEDs) equals 54. This is a common trick used by Chinese manufacturers to over inflate the capabilities of the lamp. There is no way possible that lamp can support 54W on that heatsink without a fan of some description.

Look into the lamps that are more well known and respected, like the Coral Compulsion or Reefbreeders. They are a known quantity with known results.

It's probably driven around 36w, but as Evil said, checkout CC or RB.

Sorry for replying so late and thanks for the heads up! ( :

Seriously, it's likely a lot closer to 18w. I was just messing around with a similar "36w 12x3w LED" bulb and it was only pulling a tenth of an amp on my apex. Very dim without the lenses, very disco/spotty with the lenses.

That's only 12 watts... You can't seriously be suggesting the Chinese would do something as unethical as run the LEDs at 1W a piece?
