Help with algae

I have a 12 gallon nanojcube. In the center chamber I have cheateo, sorry if I misspelled. After I did my last water change, the stuff went everywhere, in the main tank all in my water pump and it pissed me off. Should I just dump all of it or does anyone gave any suggestions on keeping it in the center chamber with out it going everywhere?

If it's breaking up into little bits it's likely either not getting enough light, starving due to low nutrients or not being turned often enough. I've never needed to tumble mine, but did flip it over & thin it whenever I changed out the filter floss.

Try putting a section of nylon needlepoint backing or some other narrow rigid (aquarium-safe!) mesh to catch the stuff before it makes it to your return pump.

You can also go without but a good light and flow is a good idea. It will break if you handle it too roughly.

Replace the Chaeto with Ulva. I never completely favored Chaeto for the reason you illustrated. I prefer Ulva for fast growth & high nutrient uptake. Everything eats Ulva, it is a main ingredient in Nori. Because it is a fast grower, it should be pruned weekly.

A second vote for ulva... love the stuff, but can't keep it as my hermits consume it faster than it can grow back (& tank has no sump/refugium). Kinda makes display macros a bit of a gamble, y'know?
