cindyp
my xenia pretty much started splitting the week it went into my tank. it is now almost in two, and one half is lying flat down, really. it is still on the original frag i bought. question: should i do anything with the lying down xenia? i feel a little bad about some of its flowers eating sand, at the same time, i have no experience fragging or gluing (i tried without success, i might add, with two frags to my live rock), and i hear you want to keep xenia isolated anyway. any advice appreciated. RK_tek
I would leave it alone. The stalks will usually start bending towards the light as the grow. Link to comment
LEEWINK
Yup ditto, mine was about 4 times that size at the start about 5 month ago, I add iodine (good for shrimps and them) and now its about the size of a football thats maybe why if you want to keep it "isolated" I dont mind, it covers the upper of the tank Link to comment

HA! I would leave it alone. The stalks will usually start bending towards the light as the grow. thank you! i like this answer! Link to comment
Dramad1
Get rid of it before it takes over. Jk but it will take over unless you tame it. Take some chop sticks and tap around the base once a week to keep it from spreading or surround it with rubble and remove pieces when its getting out of hand. Link to comment

LEEWINK
yup all choices, me too, just leave it, but watch if you dont want spread, they are not bad as covering goes, but if you dont want that just be careful. I wouldn't suggest "getting rid of", just be careful if you like it Link to comment
cindyp
this is mine now HOLY CRAP! that's amazing! ha! yeah, that won't fit in my pico. but hopefully, they won't spread that much. yikes! i'll keep an eye on it. and snip if i have to. Link to comment
cindyp
as an update, i put a rock next to the xenia in original foto that had been lying down. it slowly creeped over to that rock, and i was waiting for it to fully be on it, but then noticed the OTHER xenia had split in two and one of them was half way over. so i just cut it, so its main head part was on the new rock too. the stalk part that's left i think is trying to grow "fingers" again. they sure are a hearty bunch! so i now have three.
