One of your main issues is that you're shooting at a downward or right-left tilted angle through the glass and it's causing distortion. That's okay for FTS shots but for shooting a subject inside the tank you have to be mindful about your angle. Focus is a bit off too. If you want ultra clear pics increase your shutter speed, bring the ISO around 100, and keep your lens completely parallel to the glass. You're on the right track! That scoly is sweet btw.

 

Thank man. It's definitely a art. Trying to get better. I suspect if I knew more about setup and whatnot it would make a huge difference. I'm going off basic settings I have found online and tweaked them here and there.

When you get more comfortable with the gear it will definitely give you more creative freedom. Just try to stay out of auto as much as possible!

Be careful if you add gorgs. I've had a couple and one time one of them fell over onto a scoly. Gorgonian 1, scoly 0. The gorg burned the scoly pretty bad. Fortunately the scoly was very healthy and it healed up quickly.

Thanks for the heads up Glenn! I'm the one who really likes gorgs, but I didn't know they had some punch! My wife said no to the gorgs anyways. She wants the tank to continue to have things that "pop and glow" like she says. She wants more acans, a chalice or 2, and maybe some z&p. I guess it makes sense. The tank really does pop in person!

Got some work done today. If I'm not tired after lunch I'm going to mess with some dry rock. It's going to be tuff to do anything amazing in a small footprint like this, but maybe I can work some magic. Have to decide now if I want to sump it, or lily pipes. Almost feel bad drilling holes in it. The tank is so pretty. Light out of the box. I was actually looking for one when setting this tank up. They were nowhere to be found. Now I see someone selling them on here. Too late. Already went the lily pipe and canister route.

 

If I ever have any problems I'll grab a mame so I can run a skimmer.

Splurged a little bit and bought some frags from the asd live sale. It was for a good cause so why not

Some of the proceeds went to the reef restoration!

 

All of the zoas were 15$ and wysiwyg so not bad! Decent amount of polyps. The bam bams were 4 polyps for $15. The acro is for my big tank and was only $12. I also bought some frags packs! 5 acans for $60, 5 zoas for $30, and 5 acros for $60

 

The total was 200 bucks for 20 frags plus guaranteed freebies. Lord knows I didn't need more coral, but like I said it was for a good cause.

Awesome the zoas were such a good deal! The flow is not very strong. Since bringing it home, it's puffed up and super happy. The flow is directed towards the torch. By the time it bounced off the side it's not very strong. The lily pipes also helped a ton. The flow is very gentle and pointed towards the surface.
