Superdave
Got an emerald crab to clear up green hair algae in my tank and it really did the trick. Over past few weeks however, it has started to turn white almost as it had been bleached. LFS suggested algae wafers as supplement as pretty much all the hair algae was gone by then. Anyone experience this? Any help much appreciated! Link to comment
BustytheSnowMaam
Algae wafers won't hurt and if you're hair algae is gone you should give it extra food, but algae wafers are not made up of algae. I think emerald crabs change color over time to blend in with the rock in your tank- mine is white-ish too. Link to comment

Chew_Magna
Just about all emeralds I've seen have looked like this as well. Link to comment
frankdr
I usually see my emerald every 2 or 3 days, and today he's looking totally white too. He gets plenty algae and occasional shrimp and has been super active, so I'm hoping this isn't anything harmful. I've heard that the white color can be molting also. I guess we'll see how he does.. CrazyEyes
FWIW, I had a couple emeralds in my old tank, I saw them quite frequently and they were never that color. Link to comment
