Try another Randall's, or switch to Tiger pistol shrimp?

Back in September of last year I got a Randall's pistol shrimp to pair with my yellow watchman goby. I put him in the tank, and he disappeared. Later, in maybe January, I found him in the refugium compartment (it was at the end of a 20 long) and put him back. I did this twice, and heard him a few times after that, but nothing in the past few months.

I'm pretty sure he's gone, and I'm thinking of making another attempt to find a shrimp to pair with the goby. The question is, should I try another Randall's, or switch to a Tiger or some other species?

Which one am I likely to see more often? Did I just get a really shy Randall's?

I love my tiger pistol. I see him everyday working at the burrow with my pink bar goby. Randall's pistols are so tiny. My tiger can be a bit loud but it's never been a problem.

I saw my randall's all the time until my goby died. When he was paired, he felt comfortable since he had goby eyes looking out for him.

My Randall's was shy at first, but after the first few weeks he mellowed out. I see him out quite a bit and hear him even more often. Lately, he has been on a real redecorating streak with my tank -- I wake up every morning to find new piles of substrate and my Yasha goby is poking out of a new burrow. That being said, I have a Nuvo8 which is significantly smaller than your 20L, so I think a smaller tank showcases a Randall's better.

Success! I ended up with another Randall's, as my LFS had them and after looking for a week I decided to give one a home.

Anyway, shrimp and goby are together. The shrimp is enlarging the burrow, under the main rock. I actually can see it working, which is awesome.

It was especially fun watching him try to drag a shell into the cave, which said shell has a hermit crab that didn't want to make the trip 8-)
