pismo_reefer
Welcome to my thread... If you don't like talkin' bout ba-sketty-o's, ribs, and barbecue; It's best you just look at the pretty pictures and be on yer merry way. Y'all come back, now. Started at the bottom: 5.5g, Custom, Rimless, Starphire front panel. Now we here: Custom 5.5g AIO: -[modified] Innovative Marine "Nuvo-16" Media Basket. *Fluval Sponge, ChemiPure Elite* -Hydor 25w heater. -RIO-200 return and [Large] Loc-Line Flat Nozzle. Jojo Aquarium, Sac. - Several types of Zoa's and Paly's............... (thanks got2envy!!!!) - Blue Clove Polyps.......................................(got2envy) (Originally from the 'El Fabuloso' Picotope!!!!) - Grape Montipora..........................................(got2envy) - Setosa......................................................... (got2envy) - Flame Algae................................................ (got2envy) - Blue Scroll Algae............................................ (got2envy) - "Orange Ball Tipped *Anemone".................. (got2envy) *OBTA's are actually tiny corallimorphs, misnamed for their feeder tentacles. Methodology: This pico is "eco-friendly", only consuming 57 watts of power and containing only aquacultured items. This pico subscribes to 'brandon429's tried-and-true methods of success. Started with Dry Rock, Dry Sand, and 5g's of Saltwater from a MATURE 1,000g system. Dosed "Hagen Cycle" for (3) days.... (Brandon doesn't suggest this. It's something I did on my own.) Then, I let the pico cycle. I'm starting with weekly 50% water changes, which are keeping my nitrates at zero. When the pico is fully stocked, I'll be doing weekly 100% water changes following dense feedings. All frags, rock, and CUC are inspected for algae, scrubbed, and treated with peroxide. Nuiscence Algae will NOT be tolerated. Dosing: - 4 drops of PhytoPlex, per week. - .4ml (8 drops) of peroxide, per day... (Until I'm satisfied there is NO nuiscence algae.) (Why peroxide works: http://epic.awi.de/5736/1/Dum2002a.pdf) Current FTS: Link to comment

pismo_reefer
LED light should be here tomoro.... I cant wait! Gonna order my equipment this weekend. I'll be picking up sand and (mature) live rock, from the LFS. As well as ~10 gallons of their frag system's water. I can drop the sand, slap a Scape together, and water-change the cloud away. Should be past the diatoms, in a week. Then drop a bunch a mushiez in here, and watch them split. Good times. Link to comment

pismo_reefer
Nice! He's back. Looking forward to the build. The tank will be stupid simple. Although, the stand will be neat... Like a mini Amano stand. Steel frame, magnetic panels, under tank storage. Oh,... And a fold down, stainless, frag table front panel. Should be cool. I'll be in the market for one of those smokers in a year or so when we get settled in a new spot. Got a website?Just a FaceBook, atm -> Facebook.com/UglyDucklingSmokers Still working on a website. Its been a non-priority, really. We have a TON of local orders. Link to comment

pismo_reefer
Sweet smokers! How much do you get for one of those bad-boys? $400, is my "base model" price. That includes my labor, i.e., sourcing, burning, cleaning, custom paint, assembly, and seasoning the smoker. I should add, these are professionally refurbished (food grade) 55g drums, That I have to burn out and take to bare steel. All parts are locally sourced, and american made. You get: - custom ceramic paint, rated to 1000*, in any color, and (2) logo's of your choice. - all Stainless Steel hardware. - (2) Weber 'side access' grills. - Brinkman thermometer. - Baffled exhaust. - (3) intake ports/caps. - Carry handles. - UDS fire pit. - Fire pit handle. - handle holder. - UDS-mounted beer opener. (Not kidding) Also come with a starter coal kit: (1) 10lb bag of quality Oak lump charcoal. (1) bag of Apple Wood. (A light smoke, for beginners) (1) Charcoal starter, aka 'Chimney'. For more $, anything is possible. Working on a San Jose Sharks themed smoker, now. As well as a Kustom Tiki smoker, with folding wood side tables, and Tiki Mask paint. Basically, for $400 you get a bad a$$ smoker; For $800, I'll build you any kind of smoker you want. I started my company building smokers " for the guy that has it all." My company is now thriving because "the food is f*cking amazing." As ive been told... Link to comment
pismo_reefer
I miss this feeling.... The feeling you get, when you flip on the equivalent of the Caribbean Sun; Letting forth live giving PAR onto clean and clear glass, just waiting for a masterpiece of color. Feels good. Still have to replace that monstrocity of a project box. I'm also going to wrap the wires in white to better match the wall. As well as run the wires more neatly. Oh, and the tank will be on a 6" tall stand. Hence the massive atmosphere between the tank and light. Link to comment
