Woke up this morning and my toadstool does not open and it positively looks bleached...how could that be? Just have stock IM lighting with my Nuvo 16???

Any clues? It was lovely purple color yesterday....params look perfect except ph is slightly low, I have a dosing problem with low ph so I dose almost every day with 8.3 No nitrates/nitrites, don't have a phosphate test yet. Do 2 gal. WC every 10 days, next one due Wednesday.

This little toadstool was doing great in this pic:

Not to worry ... give it a day or so and it will be back to normal or it will be covered with a somewhat shiny coating, which is normal when it decides to rid itself of unwanted material it has inside of itself .. the coating sloughs off after a few days ...

I don't think there is anything to worry about

Thx...all the polyps are fully extended and a great neon green now, its just the skeleton looks so whitish along the ridges....hope you're right. Salinity is perfect also, just tested it.

They gp through phases like that .. as long as it does not "fall over" meaning bend downwards IMO all will be OK

What is the white botch right next to it ?

What do you consider low pH? 7.8? My advice would be to stop testing pH and start testing Alkalinity. All you're doing with a buffer is temporarily inflating pH and steadily increasing your alkalinity. Toadstool looks ok though.

Then how do you get the ph to remain at 8.3 or 4? Here in my area the water is total alkaline. Really bad, very hard. Even our pool has to be treated with Muriatic acid to raise the ph. So if I don't do it then the ph will be about 7.2. So what's the answer?

The white botch is rock.

He's really perky, not bending over and the polyps are fully extended but he's just so pale underneath....WC today am watching to see if anything is different.

Came home Sunday to lots of algae on the glass after week long absence. Thought I had everything set up right. Had auto feeders going, ATO etc. Tank params were good almost perfect. But did a WC right away and cleaned the tank of algae. Noticed the pump was on the fritz so took it out and ceriths were in there so cleaned that and put it back in, flow improved. The Toadstool has stayed bleached out since I started this thread. But his neon polyps were all out and looked good Sunday...today he has not opened at all, must sitting here like this:

The only thing that is a tad outa line is the salinity 1.023 or 4 a little low but consistant with what it was when I returned. I guess it could be higher. He usually polyps out but nothing for the last 12 hours...and he is still so white, just don't know what to do with him Everything else is thriving.

Any ideas?

Oh yes, I forgot to add that my turbo snail has taken a dive. He's still in the shell but almost all brown now. Should I take him out>? No nitrate or nitrite.

Well he's polyped out now so I guess he's o.k. but the white color really makes me nervous, any help is appreciated.

Its been hit and miss with his polyps...different story every day, today he's open a bit...after I saw the mucus everyone talks about blasting, I blasted it off and he's better today. At least he looks pink today not white. My lite from Dave gets here next week (fingers/toes crossed) so maybe he'll be doing better after that. Hope to see all my brown looking corals brighten up from Nano Box!
