Horsey_Cat
I received some Coral from saltcritter yesterday. One of them being a walking dentro Coral. Is there anything I should know about this Coral? I know why its called "walking" dentro now, because it moves around which I assumed it would. But why does it move? What actually makes it move? When should the feeding tentacles come out. And should I just let it move wherever it wants. Right now it's been trying to move to the right, but rocks are blocking the way. Link to comment

Horsey_Cat
Is it bad if it isn't extending? Link to comment
Gilligan
Wouldn't it be hard to get a leash around that? Won't your feet get wet? Link to comment
Tamberav
Pretty cool, sounds like the worm could get it killed if it walks into other stinging corals though. Link to comment
Gilligan
Have you considered a small scale railroad so all your corals can travel safely, efficiently? A turntable would be cool. Rotating reef. This would be a nice way to get random flow from a stationary pump. I know, I'm socially awkward, however inspiration is a beautiful thing! Link to comment

I'm pretty sure I don't have any stinging corals. Do you think its bad if its not extending its feeder arm things yet? Gilligan
Not as strange as a dude who calls a dude strange, right after that dude proclaimed being strange. Anyhow it seems there is already a patent for a "rotating aquarium" from 1999, it is different then what I have in mind, but essentially serves the same purpose. http://www.google.com/patents/US5921203 Way off topic here, OP have fun with that Mexican Reefing Bean, very neat. farkwar
You should consider all corals with nematocysts as default. And they dont need tentacles, I have a couple chalices which are toxic. Link to comment
thesmallerthebetter
heteropsammia (walking dendro) are pretty easy corals. moderate lighting with the occasional supplemental feeding of meaty foods like mysis will keep the coral happy. The worm that it uses to move around is a generalist feeder and so long as the sandbed is established itll be fine without special care. I keep mine in a 4" abs pipe cap full of sand to control how far it can "walk" but it mostly only moves like once a month. Ive had it for about half a year now with no issues. they do get stung easily though. Keep it corralled and it shouldnt be an issue. Link to comment
el_ote
Id add: make sure your pistol shrimp doesnt grab and bury the poor sucker. I may have found it in time as there is flesh reappearing from where it looked like all skeleton. I think it just receded into itself while underground. Link to comment
