tetraodon Posted April 18, 2014 Share Posted April 18, 2014 ive been reading alot and i know you can run fuges with and without a substrate and im not sure what i should do, its a 10 gallon tank thats divided into a dedicated pistol shrimp area and the other is my fuge, should i do a substrate or not? seabass Posted April 19, 2014 Share Posted April 19, 2014 Personally, I would run a bare bottom Chaeto fuge. Refugium sand beds can cause problems if not kept clean. Link to comment
atrox Posted April 19, 2014 Share Posted April 19, 2014 I run bare, with one large piece of lr and some cheato. I have a large MRC sump and flow through fuge is rather slow so I have to stay up on detritus removal so if I had a sand bed it would only add to higher nutrient levels. That being said I do run a dsb in display. Link to comment
