Rainbowunicorn
Ok I'm a senior in high school and I have a 10 gallon reef tank that I have spent a lot of money on, and I would really like to take it to college with me. I have to live in my dorm for all 4 years due to my scholarship contract. However I have to move in and out each semester, due to college dorm cleaning and rules. So what I was wondering is what is the best way to transport a 10 gallon reef tank back and for 30 miles. Like how do I transport live rock, fish, sand , corals...ect. Do I need to put each item in a bag, or what. I just want this to be as easy and safe as possible. Link to comment
xiaoxiy
I've made 2 moves so far with my nano reefs, and here's what I have done: 1) Bag the fish or put them in a separate container from LR and corals 2) Bag my LR/Corals 3) Drain tank to sand level 4) Move 5) Set everything back up upon reaching my destination. Rainbowunicorn
Awesome do you think I should put the bags in syrofoam containers. Link to comment
Sugardaddy1979
I would if you can. Transport will be easier and will help maintain temp for the 3 or 4 hours it takes to get them back in the water. It always takes longer than you'd think. Be sure to have more water on hand than you think you need too. Your transport water won't be suitable for the dt really after moving since waste will build up in it. Link to comment
Arce
I would go bare bottom, makes it easier to move back and forth and wont cause any issues. Link to comment
