I have a Blue Hippo that has been in the tank for about 1 year. He appears to have ich. Nothing has changed other then 2 new fish (anthias) I got last week.

He is eating like a champ and as active as always. He is showing no signs of being sick other than the Ich bumps.

All other fish seem to be doing just fine as well and don't show any signs of having ich

How should I handle this situation?

Are the spots white or black? The spots look rather large in that pic but that may just be because it is a blurry close up. Ich is white and the size of salt.

To be 100% effective QT all fish, treat them with a copper medication (i recommend cupramine) and run the DT fishless for 8 weeks.

QT all new fish next time so you don't have the huge pain of now trying to rid the tank of parasites.

Doesn't look bad, and eating is certainly a good sign.

I have had good luck with a couple of cleaner shrimp and a UV sterilizer to minimize parasite in the tank and on the fish. Good and varied feed and eyes on water quality worked in what I assume was a minor case in my 75G.

HTH...good luck!

Is this my only option? Some spots seem white but not many. Some seem more like bumps without a white spot...

I don't have a running QT tank although with some fast planning I could get one up and running with old equipment.

Could the tang just have ich from being stressed over the new fish? Sounds like you're saying the new fish brought ich into my tank?

Been in the hobby for 2 years and this is my first time dealing with ich.

New fish brought it in if they were the only things added. Fish can have it without showing signs since it often resides in the gills.

You can try other measures like a UV sterilizer, just keep in mind it's not proven to actually be a cure. It may help for the fish to fight off the infection or it may not. If the parasite remains in small numbers, any stress could cause it to flare up again.
