NanoTank1
For an approximately 10 gallon reef tank with a fish or two (in which water changes and feeding frequency is fixed) which do you think is the most efficient means to remove algae? and why? 1. Skimmer 2. Reactor (for example filled with GFO) 3. Algae Scrubber 4. Refugium Looking forward to the conversation! Link to comment
Sugardaddy1979
What kind of algae? I think step 1 is to manually remove all that you can. For a tank that size I think routine water changes would go a long long way. With such a small water volume that's the quickest way to export. Link to comment
Ruester007
Until recently I ran a 10 gallon. Water changes are your best option, hands down. Manual removal works, but depending on your 'scape, can be difficult. For larger pieces of live rock with GHA or similar algae, the baking soda and H2O2 method work very well. Link to comment
NanoTank1
Believe the algae is just diatoms. I would rather not work on the individual rocks as I'm gluing coral frags directly to them. I have done water changes weekly, but would prefer not to go deeper in that direction:) Link to comment
Sugardaddy1979
If it is diatoms, they should clear on their own once excess sillicates are used up. How old is the tank? Link to comment
