dling
I think my clowns are killing my duncan coral. They have hosted it. I have noticed a few heads dead and dieing. I'm sure it's not anything else. I have though about getting a anemone just not sure which one. The tank is only 30g so what do you guys think I should do ? I don't want to lose the duncan and I'm kinda worried aboud having a anemone in a tank this small. Link to comment
Bobyboy
30g is plenty big, but how old is your tank? Clowns will host bubble tips and long tentacle nems. You may have to move your Duncan or cut the top of a plastic bottle off and place over it. Link to comment

Bobyboy
Mine is currently hosting a duncan. Ive not seen any harm to the coral at this point in 2+ years. It depends on the coral, in my bc14 my clowns tried to host my Duncan and I lost 3-4 heads before isolating it, they then hosted a torch and it was perfectly fine. Link to comment
jservedio
Mine is currently hosting a duncan. Ive not seen any harm to the coral at this point in 2+ years. You are lucky then! Mine have been hosted by a favia in my tank that is about the size of a saucer and it was "donut" shaped for almost a year before the clowns moved slightly to the left of it and now rub on the rock next to the favia. From them constantly rubbing in the dead center of the coral, it was completely bleached and worn through to almost the skeleton - however, the outside was perfectly colored up and growing quickly. After they moved off the coral, it slowly healed back up and is now mostly back after about 6 months. Your clowns may be gentle with your duncan, but they can be extremely rough and constalty rubbing any coral will damage it. Here is a picture taken with a flash at night about 8 or 9 months ago showing their damage: Link to comment
GlassHouse
PLEASE! Clownfish don't host anything. Anemones are the host to the clownfish, not the other way around. Link to comment

Gilligan
Yes it would be expected that the clowns will damage and eventually kill most all coral. A quick search would show many coral killed by clownfish. Link to comment

dling
I have moved the duncan around three times trying to fond a place that the clown dont like but is still good for the coral. I'm currently looking a different anemones. Thanks pgrvll for the bubble nem tip I will look into those. I just dont to have trouble between the anemone and the rest of my corals. My tank is sps dominated so I have a medium-high amount of water movement.Do know how the nem would do under those conditions. Link to comment
