Introduction

What's full of Aiptasia and on a serious budget? My Fluval Spec III Pest Tank! That might not sound too exciting but don't judge a book by it's cover. I intend for this to be a great example of reefing on a budget by the time it's all said and done.

Summary

First, a little backstory. I've been busy with my main display tank, an Innovative Marine Nuvo 24, so my planted Fluval Spec III got broken down and has been sitting unused in my "fish room". I wanted to rescape my main display but didn't want to throw away or waste the live rock I was pulling out of it. I had an extra 5 gallons of saltwater mixed in a container, so I put it in the Spec with an extra heater and the tidal pool was born!

Philosophy

It just so happens that the rock I pulled out of my main display tank has a ton of Aiptasia on it, so I'm not going to fight it. It also has a lot of great hitch hikers like Serpentine Stars and Snails. I started to get the idea that anything I didn't want in my main Display Tank would find it's way into the Spec.

I know it doesn't look like much yet! But I do have some interesting plans for this tank like a gravity fed ATO and lots of zoas/mushrooms. I may accumulate more rock in it as I go as well.
