Hello All,

So i have started (or rather re-started) my 75G after moving into my new house.

The equipment list is as follows:

75G Top Fin Aquarium
Eshopps R-200 Sump
Eshopps PSK-100 Skimmer
Rio 2500
BRS Dual Reactor
2 x Jaebo WP25
Marineland VisiTherm 150w

The wall where the tank will go

The closet behind (under the stairs) that will serve as the fish room

Box full of plumbing goodies

The emptied (mostly) 75G

The sump, skimmer, reactor, etc

post-81882-0-09133700-1395878682_thumb.jpg

the fish in a holding tank (a.k.a Rubbermaid container)

Now to address as to why it is "Potentially Disastrous" This build has the added drama of the wall where the tank will go has a post in the middle of it (as it is under the stairs) which a few woodworkers and structural guys have told me shouldn't be a problem

Nonetheless...The tank could bring my house down...literally.

Hmmm, a post in the middle of the wall your stairs are on. Do you have a basement? If so, see if there is another post directly under it or is it bearing on a beam? If you are slab on grade you can always add a header supported by 2 new posts. It seems like an odd place for a load bearing post. Stair stringers usually don't need additional support like this unless you have a landing going up your stairs. I would investigate a little more before you give up on the location for your tank. Good Luck!

BK,

I haven't given up! Quite the opposite I'm going forward with this spot!

I'm in FL so in basement. And the plan is to add a header and 2 new posts but thanks for confirming that's the best idea (I don't know much about this stuff!

I'll be posting a few more pics in a minute to show what else I got done today.

If you cut through those studs without the down force weight of the floor above pinching the blade to almost a stop it's not a load bearing wall. It just looks like a partition wall. Another way to tell is look at your roof. Typically the front and rear walls of the house is bearing along with a wall that runs down the center of your house perpendicular to these walls.if you have a hip roof the side walls will also be bearing and possibly two more interior walls. Keep up the progress!

@slowngreen thanks for the kind words...I was back in forth on the frame but in the end it came out to be necessary due to a miscalculation haha the words "measure twice and cut once" have never rung more true!

This is so awesome! Good job, Gio too! haha

Thanks Vader!

I think it looks awsome ! Drop some mp 10s in there :)

Ive been thinking about circulation actually. Not sure if i want to go with 1 MP40 and 1 MP10 or 2 WP25s and 2 MP10s (for the back walls). Both setups would come out to about the same price. Anyone with some insight i would appreciate opinions!

Very nice build. Looks so clean. As far as flow goes, I have a single wp25 in my 75g that provides excellent flow throughout the tank along with a larger koralia, I'm not sure on the gph on that though. I plan on ditching that koralia for another wp25 add that should be sufficient for flow.

[quote name="jraccah1" post="4691761" timestamp= Two mp 10s work great one on both sides of the tank to have as much flow as you needed . I have an mp10 and mp40 in my 75 gal SPS tank and two mp10s would have worked out just as good.

Tiger what do you run the MP40 at? Id like to do 2 MP10s but i don't want to have to run them at (or near) 100%

This is awesome: following! Great job with the installation.

THANKS!!!

THANKS!!!

I run my mp40 at 60 % on a master slave setup with the mp10 on short pulse mode that gives me a nice back and forth wave motion . I also run my sicce 3 return pump at 100% . It was a challenge to get my flow right because the tank is a 30 inch tall cube so I needed a pretty good undertow at the bottom of the tank . With this setup I have very nice flow and I'm able to keep SPS on the bottom of the tank . But with some tweaking I could have made two mp10 work . I can't wait for ecotech to release the vortech schedule control for reeflink so you can run several different modes all day.

I think the mp40 and mp10 option would look a lot cleaner in that tank. Fantastic work by the way
The MP10 and MP40 would definitely look cleaner but I like the flexibility of the 2 WP25s and 2 MP10s and I feel like the flow will be insane!

wow very nice install man. tank look great.
Thanks JR!

Yeah I'm leaning towards 2 WP25s and 2 MP10s on the back wall. That way I can run everything on low speeds and ramp them Up if I need more flow.

Awesome build. In wall tanks look sick. Well done.
Thanks Arce. Love your 29 btw
