hi im just embarking on my next led build for my tank sized 800mm x 800mm x 350mm high it is a mixed reef mainly sps dominated
what would you recommend I use to light it ?.
I already have
8 x 3up blue and white
4 x ocw
8 x violet

i would like to add more or maybe change what i have above completely dependant on your advice. I want to drive the leds at 1w and add more to get a better spread
what drive would i be looking to use if using xte at 1w ?

looking forward to hearing from you

Ok, so you've got about a 32"x32"x14" tank. You'd need a significant amount of LEDs to run them at only 350mA (one watt).

For an SPS dominant tank, you'd want to use a total of 18x NW, 36x RB, and 9x blue as your base, and 9-12x OCW and a bunch of violet (at least the same as NW, up to the number of RB) to make it full-spectrum. That's with running them at 700mA to 1A. If you only want 350mA, multiply those numbers by ~2-2.5x

Thanks Ben I really like the t5 and led hybrid unit you've made definitely something to think about. I also noticed you don't use any cree I was wondering why that is ?
