Innovative Marine Nuvo Fusion 30L

My IM Nuvo Fusion 30L arrived today with major disappointment. Ordered it from Marine Depot and unfortunately it arrived with the back filtration dividers shattered and the pump pieces broken. Marine Depot put the IM Fusion box in another box and when doing so they put it on its side instead of it bring right side up. Clearly the pump dislodged during shipping because of this and played ping pong with the glass.

I called Marine Depot and offered to keep the tank at a 50% refund because they were on back order and have had several tanks break in shipping. My intention was to remove the acrylic divider and drill the tank for an overflow with returns and sump it but they declined the offer in the event the tank was weakened by the damage.

On a side note the glass work and caulking is amazing. Did some measurements for comparison to the IM Nuvo 24 for anyone interested. From front of tank glass to back of tank glass it's 15". From front of glass to acrylic divider it's 10 1/2". From acrylic divider to back of glass it's roughly 3 7/8". From left to right side of the tank it's 35 1/2". Tank glass is approximately 1/4 thick without a micrometer to get exact thickness. Tank glass is very much noticeably thicker.

Ah that's too bad! I had my Nuvo 30 cube shipped no problem. Hopefully it gets resolved and you can get a new one in good shape!

After much thinking, I decided to pick up the new Fusion 30g over the 40g, because rectangular is more aesthetically pleasing, despite the loss in water volume.

It's currently backordered, so hopefully the 2-3 days estimate is correct (also from Marine Depot), and that it comes here in one piece :D

That's a bummer, I also ordered the 30L but I missed my delivery today and it's rescheduled for tomorrow.

I'm now hoping mine is better packed, it is being shipped via pallet directly from Innovative instead of coming from a reseller.

On the brighter side, I did receive my stand today and was able to assemble it, I decided to save the 300.00 and bought the Aquatic Fundamentals 30/38/45 for 68.00 from petco.com.

It's 37" long and fit the tank perfectly, it's rated up to 450lbs but I'm debating about adding some supports to the corners.

All of the tanks are on back order until April thru Marine Depot and Innovative Marine. This sucks, lol. I have a custom black stand being made for it. I'm still excited about that, lol.

What kind of lighting do you guys recommend? Since I have to wait like 2 weeks according to reefswagger before my back-ordered tank arrives to Marine Depot.

I don't want to go too crazy and will probably keep very easy to take care of corals and such.

Sorry to hear about this. When shipping something that size and weight, its bound to happen though. They are great tanks and a buddy of mine has actually seen it in person and said they are amazing!! Stay positive, it will be worth it! Can wait to see the build!!

That is extremely unfortunate! I ordered the 40g also from MarineDepot and it arrived all in one piece. My guess is your delivery guy wasn't exactly happy about the heavy package. I've had mine running for a week and half now and it is stunning.

I would consider going with the Maxspect Razor 160W. I have one hanging over my current Nuvo 24 and everything seems to love it. Blue Lightning Maxima Clam, RBTA, and Zoas are all happy so far.

Yeah Guido over @ Marine Depot has been great to work with, they have great customer service from my experiences.

I have the maxspec razor r420r 20" over mine, it has pretty good coverage with the stock 90 degree optics and should be perfect with the 120's.

It's hung about 16-18" above the tank dead center of the display.

The fusion 40?

You need to start a build thread and document it.

I haven't seen what the 40 looks like yet.

Luck me, the replacement tank arrived today! UPS set it outside my garage standing on its end. I took a photo of that, the shot video of me opening the box after bringing it in. To my astonishment, Marine Depot once again shipped the tank on its side within the bigger box and although there is no visible crack yet, the pump housing was cracked and loose from the suction cups meaning it was banging around inside the tank again. I'm at a loss for words atm.

you wouldnt want to take a 50 percent refund anyways. those nuvo tanks are known to crack out of no where from weakened glass. i bought a running nuvo 16, shut it down, stored it a couple months. filled it up again and bam! shit cracks out of nowhere. my guess is the glass was weak maybe from when it was torn down and then filled back up. who knows.

IMO at this point if go through Innovative Marine directly, they sent my tank freight on a pallet and it was packed extremely well.

Finally, I had one arrive in one piece! They wrapped the pump this go around. Brian over at IM was nice enough to send me a media reactor. Bought one of the Fusion 30L's off a LFS so now one will be a regular reef tank and the other a frag tank. Just have to decide what to do with my Nuvo 24 now, lol.

So, I got the stands painted and ready to go, setup the frag tank with the neo-therm 150w heater, keeping the IM media baskets and media while the tank cycles, after that they are gone. The light came in finally, I'm a big fan of the Maxspect 27" 16k that I have over the Nuvo 24 I have but I wanted to try something different with the frag tank just for fun so I bought the AquaticLife 36" 4 bulb. Bulbs were ordered too and the stock ones tossed, lol. Filtration in, media racks in, water in, and tank started cycling on Monday. Also took out the crap white netting IM provides but kept the frame and put in black netting instead, matches the tank much better. I'm feeding daily for the bacteria as if I had fish in the tank and I'll put in the Cadlights PLS-50 on Monday. Reactor can wait until the tank cycles.
