Phosphates and TDS

Yes. Phosphates and silicates are two things that are very weakly ionized so do not always register well on hobbyist grade TDS meters. They are also tough on DI resins since DI acts by electrical attraction, both cation and anion or positive and negative charged.

Most TDS meters are +/-2% of full scale so can be off since full scale is usually 999 ppm TDS and 2@ of 999 is around 20 TDS+/-.

Inline TDS meters are even less accurate since they are not truly temperature compensated so if the air temperature and water temperature are not exactly the same they are off by around 2 TDS for every degree C they differ.

Great info. So I will probably make my water on a "as needed" basis now instead of letting it sit in 5 gallon buckets until I need it. Because I have a feeling these buckets (typical 5 gallon buckets from Lowes) are leeching some phosphates and/or silicates into my water. Yet it reads 0ppm TDS on my HM Digital COM-80 tester after storing it a while.
