nemosworld
I am copying and pasting this from my local board, I have been lurking here for quite sometime and thought would share this build with you guys. the tank is already cycled, so this will be mostly pictures after the intro. Equipment List DIY tanks built by me Dual Radion G3's for lighting Speedwave dc pump (790) for return Nextreef reactor (not online yet) Nautilus phosban reactor running carbon 8 port dj switch reefkeeper 1 (because i had it) Current Tank shot so what am I building now you ask? it's a dual rimless DIY 24 gallon setup. that's 24 gallons x 2. I originally built the stand for a 75 gallon I was building for fun, well I have since sold the tank and still had the stand, so I figured why not, I needed something nice for my new apartment anyway. This will be a dual setup, one SPS dominant and the other will have zoa's, a few Shrooms and display macro algae. for the filtration, I was thinking of going natural with a fuge and macro algae along with a turf scrubber (not sure yet, my mind keeps changing) I did see a similar setup with no algae in the display at all, which makes me want to try it. (well the tank did not have a scrubber, that's something I'm thinking of adding) I do feed a lot. so lets start with the stand, I am by no means a carpenter and had no idea what I was doing, I just knew what I wanted and picked up some tools from lowes and did some reading as well. the outcome: The overflows and tanks: Used trigger system sump and ATO DIY ato reservoir Bean animal system I still need to finish the base of the stand: Link to comment

What about having one with mushrooms, sponges, gorgonians, display macros, mushies and Xenia to be the display fuge for the SPS dominant tank? Have you seen Zia's setup (check the TOTM tanks, he was featured last month) and also last year Spirofucci was featured, he too had an SPS dominant tank with a display refugium plumbed together with a sump. I like that Idea, going to check it out. Why 2 tanks and not just one? Holy Jesus that stand is beautiful btw. Originally i had a 90 gal AGE pvc bottom Tank running and was building the stand along with a 75 gallon i got for cheap. This was going to be a project to practice building stands without using 2x4's. I sold the tank and had the stand laying around. As for the tanks, I built them with glass a buddy of mine had in his store. This all started last summer, since then i have gone through a separation and needed something that would fit in an apartment, so i went with these since they fit on the stand. In my 5 years of being in this Hobby, I have gone through so many builds, it's not even funny, my biggest being a 225 and my smallest being a 10 gallon. I will do my best to see this one to maturity. Thanks! for the stand compliment. Link to comment
