Red Turf & Blue Ball Algae ID & Questions

My tank is 3 months old, i think i have some growth of Red Turf & Blue ball algae growth, it looks nice and adds some great color/texture to my live rock. I do have some questions about this though below along with a picture, sorry about the quality of the pics!

1) is my ID correct?

2) is this beneficial algae for nutrient export?

3) will it get out of control?

4) , do i need to trim it back or get rid of it?

For me at least, I need better pics to help with an ID. These are too fuzzy and grainy to get any kind of real detail.

This should help you identify the macro in your tank. Russ Kronwetter is owner of live-plants (Gulf Coast Eco-Systems) and his reference book link above will answer your questions, hopefully.

Your pictures have way to much blue to accurately identify anything. Either turn off some of the blue or use a filter on the smart phone.

Thanks for the link, I'm now pretty sure the stuff on top is ochtodes, it says it has good nutrient uptake so im assuming to answer my origional post this is good? I also am guessing that i can trim it if it gets out of hand.

As for the burgundy stuff that one seems a bit harder to identify!

Thanks again and i hope someone can figure out the red stuff.

Thoughts on the red stuff? Is it good to have? Do i need to control its growth?

I'm not 100% sure, but the red stuff looks like dictyota to me. If that's what it is, you probably don't want it in your tank. I struggled with dictyota for ages. Google red dictyota and see if it looks like what you've got.

I did the google images on red dictyota and i don't think that is it, thanks for the try. The best i can come up with is red turf algae but their seems to be so many miss identifications who knows. My biggest concern is its only. 8 gallon Nuvo 8 and i don't want it to get out of control if it is in fact some type of beneficial algae, nutrient export i will just keep it in check once i figure out how.

For now i will just keep an eye on it and see if it does in fact get out of control. The tank has only been running g for 3.5 months now.

Looks like red turf algae but kinda long

I know, that is what is throwing me off! And with the nitrate spike i just had its well fed!

Very confused on what type it is, its stuck to the rock quite well, i can look to grim it down while using a vac to suck up the clippings if need be?
