5.2 on shallow reef

Wondering if one 5.2 lumia with the 110 degree optics would be enough? Could I run some individual led's on the outside? Or would I even need it.

Two, yes. One, probably not. Thankfully 5.2 lumias seem designed to be run in pairs. You'll get some hard shadows or some very weak output and light spill if you hang it high enough to light the tank with one.
