Do you think the zeovit wasn't work cause it wasn't the full zeovit? Reactor and biopellets?

That's a sweet fish definitely not camera shy which is awesome. Those pieces are going to be a great addition. Where you get the SOTR?

I have a full zeovit reactor. I was running the whole system. Stones, reactor, all the additives. If you scroll to the first pages, you see the sump with reactor and all that. I think the biggest problem was the cured dry rock. The tank was already clean to begin with. I also don't have a lot of fish. Not much in nutrients or bioload. I just stripped the tank too clean basically is what happen.

Got the sotr from my buddy Chris. Pretty much all my coral comes from trading and my other reef buddies :)

More new fish today. I think this will be it for fish. I have some chromis is qt, but they are tiny. So today I added a tomini tang, and a pink margin wrasse. They are doing well. The pink margin for some reason seems to not like my sunburst. Nothing crazy, but a little chase here and there. I'm happy to have fish again and have some movement in the tank!

I thought this shot was funny. 6 fish and not 1 on site for the pic.

Grea pics. That's funny how they're all hiding at once. To bad you can't get that chevron tang on DD that's a beautiful fish. The tomini is one of my favorite tangs. Everything is looking good.

Sucks zeovit isn't working. I've heard a lot of success people running it. Maybe when it mature a Lil bit.

New fishie...haven't seen one in a while, so I couldn't resist. He's already eating frozen. He went straight into the tank and started hitting the pods. Also demolished blackworms and mysis. Super happy with this guy.

The pods don't stand a chance. This was literally 30 seconds after adding him to the tank. Never seen a fish do that. It didn't hide for a second.

Thanks man! There is no doubt zeovit works, but every tank is different. Right now it's just not working in my tank. I'm super anal and have studied it to a T. I've had help from great people like Nanotopia. I've done everything right per zeovit standards, but it just wasn't working. In my case i think I starved the tank. I will maybe try it again once I get things going. Right now I just want the tank to auto pilot!

The chevron tang is awesome. I wish they held juvi colors forever though. Adult ones really don't do it for me. They are kinda bland.

Beautiful fish!

Thanks!

Looking good bro....love the new fish....making me jealous. I will definitely be checking out Ocean Blue in a couple weeks when the cycle is finite!

Loving the concerned fat head... he is indeed like, "you best not have the bed bugs."

Lol...that's great

FTS!!!

Soon my friend!

Cool man. All these fish came from main displays. The tang has been in the store over a year, and the wrasse 8 months. My new goal is to not buy fish from the general pop tanks. It was really cool that they sold me the fish from the display.

Man....my pink margin wrasse is not very nice. I got him because it's one of the rarer fairy wrasses. They are super pretty when they turn make, but he's a meany.

He ripped the top fin of my fathead. Hasn't stopped chasing him since yesterday. Finally this afternoon I had enough. The wrasse was introduced to my slap stick. I also added a couple more hiding spots. He seems to have calmed down. It's in his best interest to remember who is boss. His ass will go back to lfs in a second! I love my fathead too much..

Chromis are doing good in qt. First round of prazi is done tom. Then one more round starts Monday after water change.

Anything else I should threat for? I'm not worried about doing copper for ich. I'm sure the tank has ich anyways. I have officially given up on trying to qt for ich. As long as fish are not stressed, and well fed, they will take care of it on their own. Just like nature intended :)

It's always nice to see people quarantining incoming fish! I'd say fatten them up if they aren't already, so they're well-prepared for the tank switch and new surroundings?

  • 3 weeks later...

The dj strip is held on with 2 screws. I reverse mounted it so the screws would be hidden. The factory screw hole on the right works great, on the left I had to drill a new hole to mount it. The plumbing piece is a checkvalve. It slows the flow down a little through the return, but gives me piece of mind. Also nice for feeding when I shut off the pumps.

The skimmer pedestal was a quick invention :)

I think it looks nicer then eggcrate. It's just 4 suction cups, 4 pvc caps, and a piece acrylic. It has worked great!

Ohhh and inside the cabinet is led strips from ikea. It's got tons of different colors and all types of cool stuff. It's a kit that brings 4 led strips and a controller.

Alex, where are your wires and cords?

Lol...I'm good like that ;).

I designed everything to be hidden. The wires are running in custom channels I built into the cabinet. Everything runs inside the channels and into my apex and dj strip. I also painted the back of the sump white, and that helps hide stuff like the skimmer and heater wires.

So I'm working on the tank now. Starting to prepare the sump for the fuge. Should I put sand in it? I have a ton of rock rubble in there now. I'm going to order some chaeto and mangroves. I want to make the fuge super cool! I might even add fish down there :)

I also plan to save a spot down there for some frags.

It pains me to admit this, but this tank is doing so good since stopping zeovit. What a night and day difference. Corals that didn't do anything for months are now growing over night. It's crazy. Colors are also better then ever. Very happy with the tank right now. I was scared to even buy more coral, that's how bad things got at one point. I have no doubt the system could work for some, but at this point in time, it just didn't work with my tank. I'm a super ocd person, I don't think I could have followed it any better and done anything different.

Sand is optional. I don't use sand in my fuge, but I know others that do. It doesn't really matter as the thing layer you will be using will not do much. It's more for ascetics.

Yea...I think I might add some. Might end up throwing some fish or inverts in it so sand would prob be nice. It's a 16x16 area, so I could prob so something cool in there :)

So...my yellow wrasse it starting to get some crazy colors. He has gotten orange and lime green stripes on his head. He also has some orange in green in the tail and fins. Starting to think it's a banana wrasse instead of yellow coris.

Any wrasse experts want to chime in. How can I positively is him. Female banana wrasses and adults yellow coris wrasse are extremely similar. He's also showing a little aggression to my tamarin wrasse.
