seabass
Hasn't the HI713 been out for awhile? I think the new one is the HI717 (a high range checker). I assumed the Phosphorous and Phosphate Checkers are testing the same thing. The only difference is how they state the results. A conversion formula can be applied to the phosphorous reading to give you the result in phosphate. Phosphorous (ppb) * 0.003066 = Phosphate (ppm) But after awhile, it's just easier to think about it in terms of phosphorous, with a target of a nice even 10ppb (about 0.03ppm phosphate). drfu
The 713 has been around for as long as i have been in the hobby (1.5 years for me ). When i made my purchase both were around, they are the same price so i went for the more accurate one, my levels are now down to 4 ppb and tank is looking better. One thing i didnt check out was the pricing of the reagents, its $12 up here for 25 packs, if the 713 refills are cheaper or you get more it might be a consideration? Link to comment
