Testing New LRS Reef Frenzy - Nano (Beta-Carotene)

Larry from LRS is a Carolina guy and he stopped by our local Charlotte society meeting last week since we were apparently one of the first societies he presented to when he started his company. He brought with him a bunch of free samples of a new food he's blending which includes beta-carotene. I picked up a slab and have fed it to the tank just once so far.

I'll have to take a picture of it later when I get home. But to me it looks like the LRS Reef-Frenzy Nano mix, but just more orange due to the beta-carotene. It's so new he doesn't even have a label designed for it so it's just in a plain plastic bag. He asked that our society members give it a try and post our results. He claims the beta-carotene will accentuate fish colors and make them look more vibrant. He said he has been testing the new mix for a little while with noticeable results. I don't know how long it will take or if it will indeed make a difference but it was free and I was running low on my reef frenzy nano mix anyway.

I will substitute this for my regular LRS nano mix, which I feed 2-3 times a week in between PE Mysis and Cyclop-eeze. So far my fish have gobbled it up just like the regular Reef Frenzy. He says it won't raise nitrates, phosphates, etc. any different than his current offerings nor will it mess with water color. He didn't say what the effects might be for corals so I haven't given any of it to my anemone or any LPS directly. I've got a purple fire fish, midas blenny, and two clowns so we'll see how it goes. I will also monitor my fire shrimp. Although I'm not sure how much more strikingly red that guy can get. I'd be interested to see what the effects are on really colorful fish, like a Flasher Wrasse. But sadly my tank is too small. So hopefully someone in my society posts pictures of more of a variety of fish.

I'm hoping to have a positive report. Larry is a real nice guy and super enthusiastic about his company.
