Best Sites to Buy Clams

Pacific east aquaculture has the best WYSIWYG selection around. Their color selection seems to come in waves, they'll get a huge batch of blue variations, then a batch of orange/gold, then some greens, etc..

Liveaquaria/divers den has good clams too..

Yeah, the way I understand it is they were fighting pinched mantle really bad, lost a ton of clams, and had no other livestock to offset the loss or keep them going..

I just looked at pea, they have like 16 clams left.. I'd keep an eye out, I'll bet they get a big shipment soon.. I haven't ever seen their stock so low, and I look at least once a week..

really? Looks like a stock photo and they just grab one.. Now I'm a little more interested :) how did you pick? I don't see that option.

i was emailing the guy about the clams and asked if i could pick one, and he sent a pic and i picked it, i actually have one of the clams in the stock photo, :P real nice guy to work with, my shipment got cancelled twice, first time because of weather, and second was because fedex didnt pick up the order, the clam came triple bagged with a heat pack in a small styrofoam box,

If I had to place a bet on which clams have the greatest chance of longgevity, My $ would go to the Divers Den South Pacific Cultured clams. Dr. Macs clams are super awesome, and of course I love them, but the fact is they are small, as most all farm raised clams are. They cant wait 5 years to sell a clam. Fact is any clam under 3 inches has a tripple chance of dropping dead on you, despite heavy feedings, etc.

These South Pacific CULTURED clams are coming in at 3 " +. They offer Croceas, maximas, deresas and squamosas. These my friends, are your safest choice.

Hey all,

Looking to buy teh clam. Where from I buy?

There is an overwhelming amount of people that ordered from divers den or live aquaria only to have the clams die. Myself included and I have a clams dream tank. I currently have 2 clams, one from PEA that arrived as a small 2 inch maxima and will be with me for a year in May.

My second clam came from my LFS, another baby maxima that has grown since November when I purchased.

There is no single source that can guarantee better animals or that they won't die but I don't know anyone right now that has a divers den live aquaria clam, that has been alive long term.

Ummmm..Ive had my Diver Den Gigas for 8 years, and a divers den blue squamosa for 8 months. And to Quote James Fatheree " I wont even purchase small clams anymore".

As any clam lover will tell you..

SIZE MATTERS!!! LOLLLLLLLL!!!

I don't think a clam you bought 8 years ago which is no longer available for sale in the hobby is enough to convince anybody that divers Den is the place to go. I can find all your quotes where you have warned people to stay away from divers den. You change your opinion based on the latest clam shipment you get.

Wrong, my opinion is based on where the clams come from, not the vendor. So an 8 year old clam doesnt count ? how convenient for you.

Dr. Macs farm raised maximas. Best/healthiest clams Ive ever seen in my life. I just picked up these three. Make sure they are his farmed ones though. Avoid clams from Divers den.

Next time try a farm raised clam and you should have better luck. Pacific East Aquaculture is the best.

Next time try a Pacific East Aquaculture cultured Maxima. These gorgeous clams are doing well for most people. Even me...and Im a clam killer. :)

Both the clams I've had started under 1.5". One of them grew to ~5" and the other to ~ 2.5" before a week long power outage took them both out. They're a lot more hardy than people give them credit for ime.

I don't feel like this become a dick measuring contest, so this might be the end.
