glennr1978
The holy grail of hammers! Are you looking for a true yellow, or what is commonly sold as a yellow but is more lemon/lime? Link to comment
ryanwongg
looking for straight up yellow Link to comment
glennr1978
I can't help you on that, or recommend anyone that can . I can offer this advice though. If you do find one make sure to ask for multiple pictures and really look them over for excessive editing. I had an orange hammer a while back and I could have easily edited the picture to look similar to that. Unfortunately there are vendors who go a little overboard with photoshop. IMHO, the one in that pic may very well be more orange in person...still a gorgeous piece, but may not be the yellow that you're looking for. Good luck! Link to comment
ryanwongg
Thanks! yeah, I've been burned with excessive photoshop before i'll definitely be asking for multiple photos! I'm hoping someone here on nano-reef will be more honest with what they have as opposed to having my lfs order one from his vendor. wall or branching, let me see what you have folks! Link to comment

I've been reading lately that most of the "orange" ones are really just brownish in person.. Link to comment

I've been reading lately that most of the "orange" ones are really just brownish in person..That couldn't be more false. There absolutely are true orange hammers, they're just not cheap. That said a lot of "orangish" hammers get passed off as orange after a little photo doctoring. That's probably what you're reading about. The orange hammer I had a while back wasn't even the highest quality although ot was very close, and that thing was a very intense orange. Link to comment

jestep
It's always washed out in my pictures but this is the orange/pink wall hammer I got a few years ago and the color in this photo is spot on. Most of the darker orange hammers I've seen end up looking very brown under most lighting. Here's the other one they had which I saw in person and this is accurate as well. This one was way out of my price range though. The were both from austin aqua farm. These photos are under 20K MH lighting with no actinics. I've seen yellow ones on cherry corals a bunch of times. I've never ordered from them so can't comment on whether their pictures are accurate. Link to comment

thesmallerthebetter
are there even true orange ones? I've been reading lately that most of the "orange" ones are really just brownish in person.. if you really want a nice NEON orange one pm me....i have one single head available for a reasonable price, not a wall either, a small headed branching one. BuHHhMP edit: Ive bought several more "yellow hammers" between the start of OP and today but they turned out to be lime green once they arrived LED lighting like the online vendor as well.. go figure.. like yellow acans, yellow hammers are really just a paler green hammer and given the more intense, or less intense lighting as the case may be, lighting in our tanks they simply get greener with time. ive seen lots of yellow sps come in "tang yellow" and a few weeks later wind up mostly green or chartreuse.
