soutzee
HI i want to buy the lumia 5.2 but i need to know the exact dimensions of the copper plate so i can use a GPU Cooler heatsink. OR what size of makers led heatsink do you recommend? Link to comment
jedimasterben
GPU coolers usually have a very small surface area for attachment. Bigger CPU coolers will have plenty of area, I've seen people using the Zalman CNPS series. Just make sure it is able to handle the heat load (most of them are designed for 95-130w CPUs, not including those aimed for overclockers). If you're consering the Makers heatsink, the 6" is more than capable of dissipating the heat, but I would recommend the 12" to have more surface area in case of fan failure. Link to comment
soutzee
iok that sounds perfect . ill buy the makers led since the gpu cant find one with big enough area for the lumia and the other one cost way more than the makers sink. I plan on running it with the coralux controller, is it possible to program the fan to run with the controller bvecause so far i use it on a timer with my other led array? Link to comment
jedimasterben
They both use copper PCB that are about the same size and have the same mounting holes. Link to comment
soutzee
Youll need a PWM fan, and it will work with the Storm/X. You just program channel 6 of the Storm to ramp with your LEDs. Fyi, there is a MeanWell DC/DC transformer, turn 48 volts into 12. Omits the need for a separate 12v power supply for the fan, one less plug. Its like $13. Ebay item 130904484992. The Storm/X can run on 12volts as well. so for the fan i need it to have the 4 cables the two for the power supply and the other two for the for the controller? i thought i could just feed it off the the coralux storm. Also another question. i can have 5 channels of light one for each of teh lumia an in the 6 then the fan correct. sorry kind of new to this controller. btw bough the lumia the makers heatsink and two ldd 1000ma to run the blues and whites teh pthers ill run with the 700ma ldd. Cant wait for it to arrive so i can get started Link to comment
soutzee
also if i use the channel 6 doesnt it use the 1kh output? but if i turn on the option to use ch 4 and 5 it utilezas both for fan leaving me only with 4 channels available for the leds. im a bit confused. Link to comment
jedimasterben
I think you can enable the different frequency on only one of the outputs. You'll have to check the Coralux site for more specific info, though. And yes, the Storm only provides the PWM signal, it doesn't power anything. Link to comment
soutzee
ok i went to the site " http://coralux.net/?p=437 " and it says that it eneables both channels at the same time. so i guess im stuck with the puttiung the fan on a timer so i can use the 5 channels? Link to comment
jedimasterben
May as well, or use one of the new boards from O2Surplus (what the Coralux boards are a version of) that has a Meanwell SCW that is activated by a normal 5v signal from a controller. It would only use one channel, then. Link to comment
