Clam gaping. It's probably not going to make it :(

Okay, so where I work we have a maxima in a 99 gallon tank. It is lighted by 350 watts of metal halides. We have had the clam about 3 months. It started at the bottom of the tank but wasn't fully extending so moved it mid tank. It has gotten worse and now it holds it's shell open but the mantle is retracted within it. Is the lighting the problem here or something else? Should I move it up higher as a last resort?

Or maybe it is too much light and I should move it back to the sand?

The last resort for gaping clams, if your willing to attempt it is:

1) keep the lights on 24/7

2) turn off your skimmer and chemical filtration

3) feed a high fat food like SELCON

4) PRAY

lol....thanks. I better fix it on the original post so I dont look like a total idiot.

It's all good as long as you use the proper there, their, and they're.. Lol..

Pics would really help.. Hopefully it's savable, I'd hate to lose a clam, they're my favorite things in my tank..
