nanolutionary
Finally my baby is completed and in a good enough state to show off! My Maroon clowns seem to be pairing nicely, the female tore the male to pieces, put the little one in the cage, then the big one now both in the cage together and the smaller one is showing signs of submission, almost there I think! 4 Quote Link to comment

nanolutionary
Love this tank, following along the ride Thanks k4ndyk1ng - your variety of tanks is inspiring - the plate pool is mesmerising would love to see it in person too, must be epic! So the return pump wasn't powerful enough to force enough water through my non-return valve to generate adequate flow. The non-return valve is connected to the flexible black hose which pumps water from the return pump in the sump. http://s41.photobucket.com/user/tlagden/media/non-return%20valve.jpg.html'>http://s41.photobucket.com/user/tlagden/media/Return%20Pipe.jpg.html'> I need a non-return valve so in the event of a power cut/return pump failure my small sump doesn't overflow. The problem is as I went to remove the Ehiem Compact+ 5000 to take pictures and sell it I realised my non-return valve was letting water through, all the way down to the point where the sump would have been flooded - like so: http://s41.photobucket.com/user/tlagden/media/dbe986a9-c6d4-4271-8e10-eb7951d0a7b4.jpg.html'> So now two problems have emerged, I need to add a new non-return valve and hope this one actually works and potentially get a new non-return pump if the new non-return is as strong as the last one. sighhhhh Quote Link to comment
vlangel
What a beautiful tank, sorry that I never checked it out before. I love the minimalist aquascapes. Wished I could do one but my massive rocks in my reef are the bedrock that supplies stability for my seahorse fuge/display. We can't have everything I suppose.:-( Quote Link to comment

nanolutionary
I made my decision watching the refugium debate from Macna 2014 on YouTube. When I eventually have a refugium it will be massive! 1 Quote Link to comment

nanolutionary
Thanks 4x5 congrats on your TOTM! I have ordered a TMC check valve 1 Quote Link to comment
nanolutionary
As I'm chomping at the bit to receive my check valve on Saturday I thought i'd best use this stasis time to construct the final spire of the rockscape. http://s41.photobucket.com/user/tlagden/media/0F8ABAC9-640E-457C-ACE4-941E3332CFE4.jpg.html'> http://s41.photobucket.com/user/tlagden/media/EAE521F6-DFAE-4F3B-8189-9F66491FE759.jpg.html'> Not perfect as the middle spire doesn't match - but it's the best I could do. 3 Quote Link to comment
nanolutionary
I am pretty sure my Fireball has started chomping through my SPS came home today to find the frag just right of centre (looks like it's giving the peace sign on my FTS o n the first post to this thread) half snapped off in two places lying on the sanded. nanolutionary
Emptied ten litres of saltwater onto the oak floor tonight failing to get the herbie overflow adjusted correctly with the new flow rate from the MUCH better TMC non-return valve - considered giving up the tank as a result, decided to sleep on it - more tomorrow night! Youll get there Thanks myarmolich love what you've done with your first tank. In the crash I lost three green chromis, the fireball angel, canary blend, algae blenny, indigo dotty back, porcelain crab, pom pom crab so yesterday after work I went to aquatic design centre in London to pick up some more corals I've added a couple of mushrooms, a torch, a replacement anemone and some star polyps. Day before yesterday I also added a midnight angel - what a beautiful species. Quote Link to comment

myarmolich
Some shots since i got it back up and running since the oxygen crash. looks like everything turned out for the better. How big of a sump did you end up adding to your tank? im contemplating drilling my tank and adding a sump to add more water volume, but im not sure if its necessary. Also, have you had any issues keeping an anemone in your tank? i really want to get a small bubble tipped anemone, but im worried it will kill some of my corals. Quote Link to comment
nanolutionary
So far so good the anemone hasn't tried to attack anything, my clownfish loves it! And I say do a sump if you want to add anymore equipment in future. Quote Link to comment
