It has been up and running for a little over a year by now and is a big work in progress. Cyanobacteria and excess microalgae growth has been an issue and seems to be diminishing since I got my hermit crabs and snails last week, and I'm hoping that in the next week or two they should have all the rocks all cleaned off. I'm also thinking the Iwasaki bulbs are what is contributing to the algae problem so I'll probably get some new bulbs for the tank, I'm thinking about going with some 12K Reeflux bulbs.

In a week or so I should be getting my Jebao WP40 in the mail which I will switch out the ugly maxijet with. So I'm super excited about that :D
All in all the fish seem to be doing really well and are healthy and I'll be a happy camper when the cyano's gone and I get some more leather corals and a couple more fish :D
Pictures (please excuse the gross cyano. I'll update the pics once all of that is gone ;) I'll have to do some color correction on the pics in the near future -my android phone isn't the best and capturing accurately the colors)

Nice wrasse. The others of that species that I have seen in person are really drab, but yours has a few colors in it.

Yeah, I got him from Bluezooaquatics. I have never gotten a bad fish from them

UPDATE

Got a Jebao WP40 for Christmas and am loving it! The pulse wave mode has been great for eliminating deadspots -plus who couldnt love the natural back and forth wave motion? I also got a magfloat as well for cleaning my glass which has been great for keeping my glass clean :)

Just ordered up some new 14K metal halide bulbs which will be a great asset for providing better spectrum to my corals and giving off more beneficial and less harsh light to my corals -not to mention eliminating my cyano. Those should be getting here on this upcoming Tuesday.

Snails and hermits have been doing an awesome job at eating my cyano and have almost completely cleaned off one of my largest rocks.

That spectrum looks much better IMO. I'm going to follow this, how long have you had this tank

Been set up for around a year.

$38?! will those work in a 2x250w sunpod? i've been thinking of switching from 14K to 20K

They are a mogul SE bulb and require a probe start ballast: http://www.1000bulbs.com/product/8024/MHS-02502405.html IMHO it looks more like a 14K than a 20K.

dang. i'm running DE

Bummer... Apparently from what I read, these bulbs have a PAR rating that is pretty close to 250W Radium bulbs so they provide quite a lot of bang for your buck.

UPDATE:

The cyanobacteria is finally gone. And fish are doing quite well. I pulled my knobby gorgonian off of the rock that my huge toadstool coral is on, and I anchored it on a different rock that is in a low flow area of the tank and it is doing much better.
