What would you recommend for the CAD Lights Mini II 34g - it measures 30x16x16?

You would need a 24" Duo. It is just a HAIR to long for the 12" model. However you will be able to use this on a larger tank if you ever want to.

What is the max wattage used by the Duo?

Thanks

If you are to max a Duo out it is ~78.

Thanks. Your unit is one of the ones I'm looking at for a build I'm doing. I'm still trying to wrap my head around LED lighting as it's new to the hobby since the last time I had a tank. If I may, why would I want to choose your unit over one of your competitors that's using quite a bit more wattage and quite a bit more individual LED's (you've got them beat cold in aesthetics, no need to address that)? Of course, I know there's a lot more to it then that, but since I'm still new to LED's I'm not quite sure what "that" is, lol. Is it just simply that they're over killing it?

No problem. Personally I think the color rendition on the Nano Box line is what sets it apart from the pack. I specifically choose the bins, colors, kelvin, etc. As well I have always preferred no optics. You do not get the shadowing nor color separation that some of the others create.

As well most wifes give the thumbs up with the NBR line ;)

Let me know if you have any other questions. Check out the Nano Box User thread too!

Luckily I've left my married days behind me, so no need to worry about any nagging wife ;p. Unfortunately, I've found that the nagging doesn't actually go away...it's just in my own head! Guess I have to fill both rolls now ;p. But now that I'm living the urban player dream life and I'm responsible for my own design decisions, I guess you could say the loft dwelling metro types give a thumbs up to the NBR line as well :).

I have checked out the users thread, and there's certainly some great looking set ups and some very happy customers. I have had a hard time finding threads showing any good growth (or lack thereof). In the case of the Duo's, I know it's a new product line for you so wouldn't expect to find anything yet, but perhaps you know of a thread or two of people getting some good growth out of some of your earlier fixtures?

I will have to dig into threads. The Duo received its name within the past few years. However people have been using NBR units for some time.

Let me see what I can find.

Here are a few long standing people. While I dont have the growth shots I can assure you the tanks have been growing! :)

As well NanoTopia has been using a unit for some time.

Beautiful tanks guys!!

Here's a pic of my tank Dave did for me. It has been fitted in the stock hood. Love the color and the SPS like it too!!

Thanks for taking the time to track those down. Those are indeed some impressive looking tanks! I'll probably be giving the Duo a shot once I sort out my tank. I don't think I can stand the look of having what looks like a TV cable box hanging over my tank from the other guys ;p.

Am I correct in that the 24" Duo comes with either the wire or legs mounting option, as well as the storm controller? Am I correct in that the gooseneck mount doesn't work for the 24" Duo? Perhaps two gooseneck legs attaching to the light would make it work?

What's the reason for not using green LED's?

Also, could you please clarify what's meant by the option for a "dedicated moonlight option for the Storms moonphase?" What is this providing that the included (I think) storm controller can't provide? What's the cost difference?

Thanks for all the help!

You can request Dave add the Lime LEDs to your array. In fact, he is building a Duo 24" for me right now with Limes and Moonlights. If you look at the date of the OP, it was from before Dave had even started tinkering with the Limes.

Anyways, thanks for bumping this thread. I had been looking around for the directions from VicSkimmer on making the nice bent conduit stand and couldn't find it. Now pinning onto my Pinterest board of "fishtank porn" for easy future reference!

Thanks! And I'm sure this is a dumb question, but here goes...what's the difference between moonlights and the blue LED's that come stock on the nano boxes? Are they just a deeper blue?
