beprimeaux
Is it okay to run a UV sterilizer with two clams? One is a Derasa (2 1/2-3 inches) and a Blue Maxima (2 inches- 2 1/2 inches). My tank is approximately 13 gallons without sand and rock. There's a link in my signature if you need more information. I bought a Green Killing Machine UV sterilizer form PetCo based on Chris from PicO Aquariums (Their customer service is awesome). Anyway, anybody know the answer to this controversial question? NicoS
Public aquariums use UV. I can not imagine how a UV would adversely affect Tridacna. FA165/FA165: Use of Copper in Marine Aquaculture and Aquarium Systems Link to comment
brandon429
Does not hurt to use uv. We don't have much plankton in our tanks anyway Link to comment
ZephNYC
I've been running a 40w on my clam system for 7 years and it never bothered my Gigas. Link to comment
