Upgrading already? What size are you looking at, Hester?

Robbert can tell you the dimensions, I can only show you with my arms :P

I am really just more interested in having more space length-wise.

The cube has a bowfront which is an absolute pain to clean and distorts your vision.

I would like to see all of the tank in one go, without having to peek around it all the time.

Another point is that all of the coral hate each other. Even the yuma and the green mushroom burn upon contact. It is hard to separate everything, even with just the few pieces we have. Now that our brain has been added, it is stuck in a corner because of the tentacles. In a longer tank you can separate them a bit better I think, while keeping everything in view.

Bonus point though: The duncans got rid of the xenia we were warned about! It just melted the whole colony.

The most important point though is that we have discovered that our house becomes really hot with the sun on the windows. We don't mind it but the temperature in the tank goes up quite quickly, as it has a hood. So we need to fix that or it will be over soon.

If we get an open tank, with a sump, it should be easier to keep it cool and save us trouble on maintenance.

Also, I have an irrational fear that our stand won't hold. Robbert thinks I am crazy.

He is probably right.

Hi guys,

Not much spectacular stuff happening lately, still saving and planning for an upgrade.

Something fun though: our green shroom split and seems to be going for a second split atm.

I made a couple of foto's for a week to track its progress. Pictures aren't great but hey..

Also, we got a free bit of montipora. It is a common tan colour, but it does have a really nice shimmer to it.

So something funny happened. Our porcelain crab has turned blue and pink.

It started off totally white, then turned brownish and now it is a deep purple/blue with bright pink claws.

I am going to try and snap a picture tomorrow.

We are also on the lookout for something like a carpet mini nem which might host the crab.

Would be good if it was out in the open more, although it is becoming bolder with size.

So it is impossible to photograph Eugene the crab properly.

Second, it has occurred to me that a hermit crab is just like a hand crawling along the ground. In a shell.

Also, going to be spending my birthday coral vouchers on Sunday whoopwhoop

It is likely going to be a nice Australian micromussa --> post-82054-0-69072000-1397153381_thumb.jpg From Dreamcorals

We haven't managed to catch Zoidberg yet but his days of coral munching are numbered.

Went to Dreamcorals today to get the micromussa.

Came home with a bit more.

I do have a pic of some crab stacks though..

Our Monti seems to be dying. I noticed it was all slimy this morning, now it has started to bleach.

No idea what is causing this. :'(

We are still waiting for our new tank to arrive. The company we ordered from was having some trouble apparently. It sucks because the weather has been hot and we have to leave the hood up quite often, to keep the temperature down.

Oh well, some pictures in the mean time...

The Micromussa is growing really well.

The brain recovered nicely from the bit of bleaching.

The Duncans must have tripled in size.

Some new inhabitants! Meet Pinky and the Brain!

Green mushroom split again, not bad for €5.

Sun coral is doing well. Bit of a pain to feed with the hermits, so we are going to try and stick it on the back wall in the new tank.

Yuma has been put into the corner of shame for homicidal tendencies.

Latest FTS at six 8 months. Sadly we lost the monti frag - it just died within a few hours one day.

Some new pics. We have had an insane growth spurt in terms of coralline algae.

If you compare the previous FTS to this one...

And the Kenya trees too. Also added some red mushrooms with the green (which are continuing to split).

FTS July

In this one you can see some nice plating coralline algae that has sprouted out of the LR.

When will the new tank arrive? :-)

God knows. We have been trying to get in touch with the company that is supposed to make it, but they are not answering the phone and stopped replying to e-mails.. We sent them a message to cancel and ask for a refund :(

If it takes longer than 2 weeks, go to the bank and have them withdraw. You have plenty of evidence to warrant it.

Thats what I have always done.

What company did you go for? There is a businesses that does custom tanks with sapphire glass. I think WaterWeelde is one of their clients.

I am still stuck in the Netherlands with no tank. I have a 75 gallon, 55 gallon, 20 gallon and a 10 gallon tank waiting for me! Frustrating haha

We will probably try that soon.

Why are you stuck? Visas or something?

I would love four tanks!

Yea waiting on the visa to process. Could take up to November...

Four tanks will be amazing. I will transfer the biggest one to a reef, the smallest one to a vivarium (frogs).

That sounds great! Shame about the Visa's though. Before I got my Dutch passport travelling was terrible - the US embassy people once told me my grades weren't high enough for them to believe I would be coming back to the Netherlands!

We heard today that the company making our new tank messed things up, they thought they had already made our order or something. Now we are looking for someone else to make it. Really annoying. And it took a lot of effort to get in touch..

Oh well.

Came back yesterday from 12 days in the Swedish woods to find some new corals to welcome me home!

My photo's were taken during the day so they aren't that good. I need a real camera.

A small frag of blue and green zoa's (will take better pictures later).

And what I believe to be a hammer coral.

Also got a chance to take a picture of Eugene. Its a shame I can't photograph his underside, it is a really nice bright pink colour.

Sadly the zoa's really aren't opening up as nicely as they first did. I'm hoping its from being manhandled and glued to the rock. A few polyps also fell off so had to be glued back on.

:( The zoa's are definitely dying. Starting from left to right, they just sort of explode, with black goo leaking out.

There are snails in the tank but I don't think its the bad kind. There are lots of little pods too, but too fast and small for me to ID as harmful pods. I can't find anything else that might be causing this to happen.

It really really blows to watch stuff die like this. Boo.
