How Uncommon Are Gigas?

I remember reading somewhere that tridacna gigas was banned for import in the US a while back. So how rare are these guys as it stands? Because I can't find any of them on the internet.

The reason i'm asking: There's a gorgeous gigas at the LFS that I work at and the owner has it listed as a deresa. So $80 for a gigas could be a pretty sweet deal.

Thanks in advanced for your time

they're pretty hard to come by, but I thought it was more about lack of importation rather than a ban on importation (IDK though).. clams are mostly cultured and imported as food, not as pets..

if you can get a gigas for $80, that's one heck of a deal..

Anybody else want to chime in with a relative rarity of these guys? The only other NRer I've seen with one is Zeph
