new-b-reefer
So, long story short, I have been in the hobby for some time and this tank I have had running for a while without its own thread. This tank has been going for just over 2 years now and was started as an upgrade from a tank that was just over 3 years old. So the reef is about 5 by now. It never had a thread due to it being well stocked and amound the stock including a foxface, blue tang, and a scopas tang. (Please dont hate, they are all happy and healthy). I have been getting requests for pictures recently so I decided to put up a thread for it. Some tank specs, *Tank-55 gallon, flat back hex, clear for life uniquarium *light-48" wavepoint super blue + 10,000k 40watt led *mag drive return pump *uniquarium verturi protien skimmer *heater *rear center compartment convertes to a refugium The fish, *blue line wrasse *perc clown fish (nemo) *foxface (foxy) *blue green chromi (anonymous) *engineer goby (no name yet) *yellow watchman goby (JB, after my dad aince they both look pissed off all the time) this guy is also the oldest fish I own.Had him for 5 years now The inverts, *large coral banded shrimp (spike) 3.5 years old *turbo snails *hermits *nassarius snail Corals, *xenia *varied mushrooms *some pallies *some zoas *gsp frag *frogspawn *multiple taro tree corals *type of toadstool leather Little more background. For a long time I was swaping in and out corals, almost went fowlr for want of aggressive fish. Then kept it reef. Long story short, corals started competing and rather than try and remove some, I let nature take its course and let the corals that were doing well... I let them thrive. This tank has turned into a very well grown in, natural looking reef. Anyway, I will add more back story another time... You want pictures!!! Recent fts. , Link to comment

spazizz
Don't take this the wrong way but I think every thing would look a lot better if you cleaned the back wall. I do like your tank though, I just want to like it more Link to comment

I do like your tank though, I just want to like it more lol, love the honesty. No offense taken. I have been debating it. I usually like the coraline growing on the back wall but recently been contemplating cleaning it off. Still up in the air. if I do clean it its gonna be a challenge. I guess since its black acrylic I can scrape with whatever right. Any suggestion to make it easier if I do clean it lol. Link to comment
spazizz
I think it would make your rocks and coral stand out better, maybe a credit card would work? Have always thought about doing the gsp on the back wall myself but havent due to a little of my rock structure touching the back wall already... Thanks. That actually was a somewhat of a happy accident. I had a small colony of it I bought at the last reef-a-palooza and put it up top on the rock. As it started growing and encrusting, a bit of it attached to the wall and it went ape $h!t from there lol. I always wanted that but this time I did it naturally instead of glueing it to the back wall it waves like grass in the current. And being on the back wall makes it real easy to harvest. I cut a small piece a couple days ago and attached to a rock on the other side of the tank. Hoping to get it growing on both sides. Link to comment

Just be careful it will overtake anything and everything it can touch.... including other corals, zoas etc..... Link to comment
