Been on N-R for about a year now & decided to start a build thread. So here it is

Current tank: Aqueon evolve 8 w/many mods
Equipment: Zoo med 501 hob
Diy mame style skimmer
Loc-line returns
Upgraded rio return pump (180)
CPE /PURIGEN/FILTER FLOSS
Rest of AIO compartment turned fuge
Fuge light Finnex mighty ray LED
DT lights( Finnex ray 2 10k atinic combo
Finnex fuge ray 7k plus moonlights )
10 lbs. Salt&pepper live sand mix
10 lbs. Live rock

Livestock: Royal gramma
Yellow clown goby
Yellow watchman goby paired with
Randall's pistol shrimp
Rics, shrooms, pulsing xenia, zoas
3 snails

So for the new build here is what i have planned so far:
8 gallon residents going into 15 gallon tank


Custom stand not finished


And a whole lot of imagination!
I'm incorporating a false wall along the back (traditional )
Diy media reactors (still testing model)
Diy media rack
BML led light fixture custom colors
reef cleaners dry rock

maybe a Diy protein skimmer

Mini update got 2 coats of paint on the stand so far. Still going to add 3 more and then seal it. Got some cool stuff going on inside the stand but I'll let that be a surprise! After the stand is finished i can start on the aio false back wall overflow. Getting there just going slow to make sure i get it done the way i want.

Yeah the stand is done! Minus all the goodies to go inside.

just have to order the reef keeper lite & the aqua lifter pump for the ATO. And kicking the idea around of setting up a QT in the stand as well.

So i know this build is going slow but i think i found a use for the Aqueon evolve stock light i had laying around... hehehe!

 

 

and some moon lighting haha!

 

I know not much but its progress right. Up next is the AIO false wall(which will be a pain). Then order my light (leaning towards a BML fixture or LED GROUP BUY custom fixture with a makers heatsink). Here's the link check them out

Cool cabinet are you planning on moving the contents of your current tank into this new one? Or is this a new build from scratch?

Doing it out of 1/4 acrylic. Going for black or darkest blue i can get. What do you think? Got a cool twist on the wall hopefully it will turnout how i envisioned it.

Thanks. No I'm upgrading from the aqueon evolve 8. Everybody from the 8 to the 15. I'm thinking of downsizing the LR and adding some Vida rock, stuff is really awesome! Moving on up to the eastside!!! Lol

Placed my order today. Going with 24inch fixture, 90°beam angle, and custom spectrum. BML BABY!!! plus I'm awaiting a "special delivery". (Mr.rogers pun intended) coming from a N-R member named chris.. I'm excited hope you all are!!

So my BML light fixture is coming January 2nd . Yea !!! Now I just need to decide on a controller ,Need some opinions and advice . Kinda leaning towards the reef angel . I heard the code is getting easier to program . For a hundred bucks more than the reef keeper lite it comes with alot from what i see. Plus my AIO false wall is coming soon so I'm excited! Would like to hear some feedback let me know what you guys think

The rock would be cool so i can get started on cleaning, curing, and aquacaping it. Aqualifter is easy but no fun since i can't hook it up. And the controller is what i need to decide on. Really, really thinking of getting the REEF ANGEL. Give me any reasons i should not go with this controller. Other than that tell me what you think i should get next.

Okay so i guess I'll go with some rock from Reef Cleaners since no ones paying attention. This way i guess i can fiddle around with the scape a bit. Emailed jon with a pic of some rockwork i would like to mimic. Wasn't long at all with a reply. Everybody said he was a stand up guy. He said no problem. So I'll be placing an order tonight or tomorrow.

 

Whats everyones choice on marine safe epoxy to sculpt my dry rock? Need something strong for the craziness I'll be encountering!!!

Went to PETCO to pick up some filter floss today and thought about getting a QT/FRAG TANK ready for the build while i wait for the rest of things i need for the tank. It's a 5.5 gallon and fits perfect.

 

 

I had an old AC 50 lying around that I'll use for filtration and flow

whats everyone using to epoxy their dry rock together? looking to start that this weekend. also work on modding the qt/frag tank.

 

oh yeah, when you cut your dry rock with a hack saw do you use a certain blade? i have the standard and one for tile?? any idea which would be better?

So since i got the 5.5 gallon started to get going on some modifications.

 

Picked up some black ABS pipe

Cut it length

Still got to cut teeth and drill bulkhead

Build some eggcrate shelving

Going to be using AC 50 with In Tank media basket, put some floss and return pump with loc line split nozzles and heater will be placed there as well.
