Neill.w
Update 2: Fun with chemicals I had to visit 4 different stores to find 'that bit' of rock.Got this as dry rock, what appealed to me about this rock was its height which matched the tank and the arch. Really wanted a clean bit of rock with zero chance of phosphates leaching and no organic matter to break down over time. Added some flat feet to the piece with epoxy putty The plan is to pre drill the rock for CeramEco frag plugs To remove any possible sources of phosphates or other contaminates I ordered 40L of vinegar and pure bleach My neighbor undoubtedly thinks I am running some sort of methlab. A guy selling me chaeto macro algae showed up 11pm the other night with a big ziplock bag of it. She fake coughed as she walked past probably believing she had just witnessed a huge drug deal Dry rock bubbling like crazy as the outer layer is disolved away Bleach bath to break down any remaining organic material Link to comment
Maniu
Can you get close ups and more details about your skimmer/refugium? So far it is quite amazing build/idea Link to comment
Neill.w
Update 3:Almost show time! The rock has been soaked 5 times with water and dechlorinating drops and dried out completely. The tank painted with a glass primer and black paint. The rock stuck down with silicon and epoxy putty. Testing out the holes for the CeramEco plugs Hi Maniu, Thanks, it is a product I make I will have some more photos of it in this build soon Link to comment
-evan
Is that the saltwater-conversion sump? Wish I would've found that before I got the 6gal fluval edge :/ Link to comment
andi.rahl
I'm just curious why you didn't do the bleach bath in a bucket rather than in the tank you intend to use? Also why bare bottom? Link to comment
