Speaker73
Love your philosophy. It's mine too. But I think mine is because I'm too lazy to do anything else. Can't wait to see the FTS! Thanks. It was born out of reefing on a extreme budget and not having the money to do all the 'extra' stuff (I started my freshman year of high school.), and I slowly found that I liked it better anyway. There's no current FTS because the tank is already set up, it's metamorphosing from the Serenity 1.0 that has been set up for a year and it still has a bunch of other stuff in it like a BTA hosting a clown, a duncan colony and a ric/shroom rock (I listed what I'm planning to keep in the livestock portion of the first post). So I'm waiting for those things to sell and free up some space. College (I'm a freshman) has taken a lot of time away from reefing, and although I already had it pretty easy, I decided that simplifying further would be a good thing-plus, I've always wanted a macro tank. I got it for a song, and it's adorable Link to comment
Speaker73
Nice! I'm going to move in a month so have to hold off on any new purchases for a while. I want to set up a 7.5 cube and try my hand at some rock nems and see if I can propagate them. I heard its a bit hard to rear the offspring but we'll see. Link to comment

I'd never heard it was hard-that part always looked fairly easy. I actually tried for about 6-8 months with this tank earlier this year, I had four rock flowers and was feeding then weekly to bi-weekly to try and 'help' things along. But I never wound up with babies (that I saw). I might have some info on breeding in the build thread for the 1.0 lifespan of this tank, the link is in my sig. I dug up what ever I could for months-have you seen the article from the guy in the middle of the country with all the red and green ones that bred? Wish I could remember his name... Link to comment

~LadyBug~
I got macros and a new fish today! I got ochtodes blue scroll galaxy red titan red grape red feather green feather prolifera So we'll see how I do with a larger variety of macros. I'm really excited. I also picked up a citron goby at the LFS, and she's adorable. I've already named her Skye, after the hacktivist on Marvel's Agent's of S.H.I.E.L.D.; it's turning into a Whedon tank between her and the tank name Pictures: (Better photos and a FTS soon, I promise!) galaxy http://s770.photobucket.com/user/AnnasHope04/media/64B5C05E-9313-474E-B6BB-422E2C46B032-2707-000001721C28159B_zpsae348b9c.jpg.html'> red grape in the back, galaxy in the front http://s770.photobucket.com/user/AnnasHope04/media/78E5AA9A-FFF6-44D6-AD48-4D6168D7BDB3-2707-000001722A50CC31_zps11f4ccb9.jpg.html'> green feather http://s770.photobucket.com/user/AnnasHope04/media/E635BFDE-FAE8-4938-9076-8717D70490FC-2707-00000171FE89F354_zps1e97f5e6.jpg.html'> red titan http://s770.photobucket.com/user/AnnasHope04/media/B42D97C2-51D2-44D6-B1ED-AC2F2982F0C3-2707-00000172E9B60636_zps6c941c70.jpg.html'> red feather http://s770.photobucket.com/user/AnnasHope04/media/59E71DEF-5CD6-4043-8AB8-B7102D030491-2707-0000017207DB7DA7_zpsb7305798.jpg.html'> Skye the citron goby http://s770.photobucket.com/user/AnnasHope04/media/E52CB2C7-2429-4370-A789-C25EC92ACFF3-2707-00000172F5425F3E_zps25a1ec74.jpg.html'> Link to comment

gena
macros and Skye How long do we have to wait for a FTS? Looks like Skye needs to put some weight on. If she doesn't want to eat well for you, maybe try some live blackworms? I know they can be finicky eaters sometimes. Link to comment

If she doesn't want to eat well for you, maybe try some live blackworms? I know they can be finicky eaters sometimes. I'm about to put it up. Photobucket is only working on my ipod, so I'm going to post a second time and put it up then . (ETA:ha, it combined the posts!) She is a little skinny, but I saw her eat flake and frozen mysis at the LFS, and she's gone after the flakes well since I've had her home. I might break out the mysis to fatter her up though Looking good! Gena your package will be on the way this week! Thanks . Hopefully it all does well and my tank looks as beautiful and lush as yours one day soon . I always said when I went macro it would be because of your tanks, lol . FTS 10-26-13: Link to comment

Thank you! I hope it takes off! I'm ridiculously impatient for everything to fill in, which resulted in these pictures- (new shoots poking up! They didn't come out so well in the photos, but there are about three.) And a baby leaf on the green feather I swear wasn't there a day or two ago- (I may or maybe not be sitting in front of the tank, staring at it veeery hard thinking *grow, grow, grow* ) Link to comment

~LadyBug~
I see them!!! Once it starts, you can't stop it. Not that you'd even want to. They've taken off-those little shoots are taller than the original leaves now! I'm so happy I love the Citron Gobie, I have had oone on order for 2 months now, still can't get one in . That stinks! I was planning a yellow clown goby, but the day I was out running errands and decided to pick the fish up, none of the LFS had YCG, but my stand-by LFS had two citrons that were eating, and I fell in love. She's doing really well, it was a good impulse buy . I hope you find yours soon! Link to comment
~LadyBug~
Two days of growth- (taken 10-31-13) I spy Skye... I thought I'd just let everything grow out, but I'm finding myself on the hunt for Tuffed Joint Algae, Cymopolia barbata, and Tea Cup Macro Algae, Acetabularia sp.; in addition to possibly a gorgonian. We'll see what I can find and when . Oh, and something orange! There's eucheuma spinosum, but I'm not really seeing it anywhere, and where I am, it isn't orange or yellow . Maybe some Cinnamon Grandis Palys? Then there's the quest to track those down, lol! (by the way, if you happen to see that I'm looking for something and have it, shoot me a PM ) Link to comment
~LadyBug~
So I've been poking around online for a gorgonian for the last few days, and when I went into the LFS today for for nassarius snails, they happened to have some! They fragged a little bit for me to try, and if it does well, I'm planning on going back for the grubes or the yellow they had. Here's a lousy cell phone shot of the purple gorg(my camera took a great photo, but my computer is under the weather ATM ) Link to comment

~LadyBug~
Tea cup macroalgae is so cute...I hope you can find it. I love the gorg. Is that a grube's? I know! It reminds me of clover It's actually not grubes, although they did have gubes, and two other kinds, for a total of four (this LFS is awesome, and almost right outside my backdoor, they just opened this summer, and I'm thrilled! Most of the others are an hour or more away...). They said this was 'purple gorgonian', I'm anxious for a scientific name, though. I just realized I never answered your question about the palys; they're not Captain America's (although that would be awesome, for the name alone, I'm becoming a bit of a Marvel fangirl...), the color is about the same but they don't have the ring in the middle.
