antsypants
Any plans to put a fish in the pico being that you are a marine biologist in the making? I'd love to add one or two Trimma gobies if I ever find one at an LFS but at the moment, I'm just waiting for the tank to mature. I don't want too much blood on my hands Link to comment
antsypants
So here is the December update, not much to add really. Few setbacks but overall, still doing okay. I fragged the pipe organ coral into three parts since the polyps were starting to grow horizontally. First time doing it, might've lost a couple polyps, but it's looking good. Smaller chunk Picked up a rock w/orange zoas the other day. Mussel hitchhiked which is pretty cool. Fun to see it open and close. But it also begs the question... how do i keep it alive? I've cut back on feeding big time. o-o Also, zoas haven't opened yet, and it's been a few days. Any thoughts? Kenya tree growing and then some. Found some hydroids the other day... Can't find a reliable way to get rid of them. Could they be behind the deaths of my glove polyps? Mushroom trio... and dirty glass Pom Pom Crab chillin' heh. Never comes out unless there's food FTS. The white dots on the back of the tank are like...really tiny feather dusters I think. Wondering if I should keep or scrape them off? Blue lights. Looks more blue than purple in person. Bird's eye. Yumm diatoms. Gonna siphon it this weekend. Anyways, life goes on in the tiny little tank. Let me know how to improve it in anyway Link to comment
antsypants
Well, people I believe I have solved the mystery of the dying snails Just witnessed my nassarius knock a cerith snail off the rock and then tried to attack it D: I separated the two but he keeps beelining backk, it's quite frightening actually... I've seen things... O_O he inserted his "mouth tube" into the cerith and it felt like it was glued to it jeez Anyways, I'll try to keep them away from each other and if anyone has any suggestions? I can maybe try dropping the cerith into the fuge. Link to comment
RedMan25xl
From my experience if they wanna bother someone in the tank they will just keep doing it. I am not really for banning stuff to the fuge, I would prolly just deal with having to turn them over when needed. just my 2 cents Link to comment
antsypants
Thanks but the nass is out for blood hahah he won't leave the cerith alone... EDIT: So down a cerith Wouldn't have minded had his shell not been all spiky and cool -0- Link to comment
antsypants
Happy New Year's, guys! A little late, but the year's still pretty new, haha anyways, just a small update. I picked up some blue and orange zoas at the LFS the other day, not sure what they are, about 12 dollars for maybe 15-16 heads? Hope it was worth it, heh. Although it did come with some red hair algae I'm not too fond of. Here's how they look under white light. I really can't figure out how to take good pictures Helpppp? Anyone? Pipe organ doing really well since I fragged it. Current FTS So not much has changed, most of the corals are growing. I cut back on feeding big time to combat the cyano I've been getting. Seems to be working but it's still there. Anyways, my New Year's resolution is to get this tank mature enough for a fish, hopefully soon... Anybody want to suggest something? As of right now I'm leaning towards the clown goby or neon goby family. Any tips would be appreciated Other than that, have a great year guys! -Anthony Link to comment
antsypants
Haven't updated in awhile and I had some time tonight, so here goes! Current FTS Pipe Organ still going strong Unfortunately my Fire and Ice zoas got decimated :/ red hair algae. Two survived but hoping they regrow Mushroooooooms Xenia growing up! The baby xenia at the bottom was where the original coral used to be but it stretched all the way up there View from the right View from the left. That kenya branch in front dropped off the main piece. I stuck it there and it attached within a few days Don't know how happy I'll be when my tank is overrun though haha.. Top down of my brown zoas under blues. So much prettier FTS w/blue lights So pretty much the same, I DID add some macro. Some in the main tank, the rest in the fuge. I really like the way it looks. But that's basically what my tank's been up to, everyone's been growing up! Really excited -Anthony Link to comment

antsypants
Nice pics! What kind of camera and photo processing do you use? Thanks! I think I'm getting the hang of it. Yet at the same time, I have no idea what camera it is haha. It's my sisters but I think it's a Canon EOS rebel T5i? It's got a sticker that says that As for photo processing, I'm not sure what you mean. All I do is upload to photobucket and then link em to this site. Link to comment
antsypants
No pictures, just a quick question/update The tank's been up for 7-8 months. I've been thinking about a fish for awhile now and I'm pondering a small yellowtail damsel. I remember seeing multiple JBJ picotopes w/a YTD and was hoping if anyone can chime in about whether it's a good idea or not? The only problem I can foresee is that it may bother the pom pom crab and if the tank is big enough. I have the rest of this week to decide whether I want it this Sunday if I get one at all, Ali from Amazing Aquariums has affirmed that it wouldn't be a bad idea and will order one for me once I ask, but if anyone's got any opinions... Also, bioload. Will it be significant enough to force me to change my weekly 25% W.C ritual? Last thing, my xenia has attached to my macro Anyone seen this before? I'll try to get pics this weekend. antsypants
Quick mini update!!! Got a new addition~ Seems to be doing great so far, already picking at the pods on the wall. Also, either the pom pom crab and this little guy are best friends or..... the crab is trying to hunt it down His name is Booster, by the way lol FTS, sort of. I moved the scape around so Booster will have a little more swimming room. Will try to get more pictures later Link to comment
antsypants
Quick update for April, went to the MAX event last week, bunch of great stuff, managed to walk out with only $15 worth of zoas hahah... antsypants
Attempting to replace the left rock with some cured rock from the LFS as the hydroids are not going away. It's also a difficult piece to work with in regards of coral placement; really one-dimensional. I've got two pieces of rock with a heater and air pump in a bucket right now, Rio 50 is jammed, go figure Will be donating the rock with the shroom and xenia on it to the LFS sometime next week unless someone wants it? Free hydroids woop woop. Hope the transition goes well, will keep updated. UPDATE So I just switched the rocks, and tested. Parameters looking good, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrates < 5ish, so a few more water changes are in need. Everybody doing well except the green bay packers which look like they have zoa pox. I thought it was sand when I got them sigh Will be treating w/furan2. I did receive store credit so I'll be going in on Wednesday to see what corals to get for the new rock (frogspawn??? maybe?). Hopefully some brittle stars come with as the ones on the previous rock weren't coming out win some lose some. Pics soon! Link to comment
antsypants
So here's the new scape I'm pretty content with it, much more than with the old one. There's more crevices now which I'm pretty sure is reason enough for my pom pom crab to forgive me for chasing him out of his old home Poor guy, every time he tried to hide during the process, it was under the piece I was rearranging next. There's also a nice cave for Booster to sleep in (he wasted no time in digging out the sand ) So all in all, I think it went pretty well, almost like a new start. Will be picking out some new pieces to colonize the rocks tomorrow, hopefully I find something Furan dip was successful, by the way, at least as far as I can tell. It's day 3 and the white spots have nearly disappeared, I can definitely say it works. Funny story, by the way, I moved the old rock to a bucket while rescaping before trading it in, I remember inspecting it for this one asterina star that I've grown fond of, but couldn't find it, and I knew it wasn't in the tank either. With an oh well attitude, I traded in the rock, but later that night I found it in the bucket )) I know they can be considered pests but I just really like the little guys. Hahah, he's a lucky star. antsypants
So I've been updating quite a bit lately, but I've also been thinking some large steps Into LPS haha, this will be the last update in awhile as AP tests are coming up and because I should cut back on my coral spending anyways lol. Here's the latest addition, one of my favorite corals~ http://s1361.photobucket.com/user/antsypants77/media/IMG_5231_zps6e18143a.jpg.html'> Love duncans They're such a calming green/blue color. Also probably trading in the pipe organ frags as I've nowhere to put them. I'll update my wishlist though It's not a long one, and hopefully it'll be completed soon! -Anthony Link to comment
antsypants
May's FTS. Didn't feel like batting down the cerith so there he stays lol. Just realized you can see the books I'm using to prop up the AC70 Halfway done with AP testing wooooo... Nothing new, no sexies yet Planning on a greenbanded goby pair... thoughts? Link to comment
antsypants
Finally finished AP tests last week That's a load off. Heh, well mini-update then. Not much to report. I traded in the damsel- he was getting a little too big and I felt bad. I got him when he was at least 2.5 inches rather than super small so he quickly outgrew it. I picked up a plate coral and some zoas but other than that, no new additions. Currently battling some type of brown hair algae that's popping up on the glass. I realized it came in on one of the new pieces of rock I added so I took it out. Anyways, this is what the tank currently looks like: http://s1361.photobucket.com/user/antsypants77/media/IMG_5512_zps162b325c.jpg.html'> Kenya sprouting back from when I ripped it out... antsypants
So it's a bit (very) late for a June update but whooo cares Current FTS Picked up a couple of acans the other day, this one is the healthy-ish one.. http://s1361.photobucket.com/user/antsypants77/media/IMG_7707_zpsa60b529e.jpg.html'> And this one's showing skeleton after the sexy shrimp started picking at it... same thing happened to the frogspawn. antsypants
Okie, here's the July update I've isolated the sexy shrimp because they kept picking at damaged corals which kept them from healing. So far, they've taken down my frogspawn, acan, and started picking on the bird of paradise like an hour after I put it in the tank, so for now, they are on timeout. I built a tiny breeder box for them lol but not even a day after, the pregnant female hatched her babiez. http://s1361.photobucket.com/user/antsypants77/media/IMG_7836_zpsdbf78e70.jpg.html'> http://s1361.photobucket.com/user/antsypants77/media/IMG_7883_zps67dee958.jpg.html'> Unfortunately, I don't have the means necessary to raise them, so I'm leaving them alone to see how long they last. In unrelated news, I picked up a greenbanded goby a couple weeks ago but he'd always flee when he sees a camera and I haven't been able to get a good picture. Here's the best I've got. http://s1361.photobucket.com/user/antsypants77/media/IMG_7824_zpse17e3486.jpg.html'> http://s1361.photobucket.com/user/antsypants77/media/IMG_7822_zps63b1c60b.jpg.html'> It's no shrimp-goby pair but my goby and pom pom crab are kinda roommates http://s1361.photobucket.com/user/antsypants77/media/IMG_7834_zpsc93f3e46.jpg.html'> My two first SPS.
