Had the plumbing on, went to move the tank back against the wall and uh, smacked the plumbing into the wall, so in return cracked the glass. $168 dollar mistake right there. New tank will be here on Friday, now I just need to remove my overflow and drill the new tank when it gets here.

Ouch. Been there, done that only on a much smaller tank. Same thing, bumped the plumbing while moving it and split the tank down the back.

Livestock has been in a couple totes since I broke the tank down. I actually just picked up another deep blue tank which will be Friday, I already removed my glass overflow, I also made a template of the holes on the tank so I can drill the holes in the exact same spot, this way I don't have to redo my plumbing again. Going to drill the new tank on saturday, get the back painted and I should be good to go.

GL man! I hope your livestock do OK!

I was going to use the glass overflow but I decided I'd rather have a solid black acrylic overflow so, I bought some 1/4" black acrylic and threw this together.

It's nice not having the tank on the stand, makes a nice little work bench.

Finally got the tank on Friday night around 1am (so technically Saturday morning). Drilled the tank that night, next day I drilled it for a return, I hate to admit but Ben was right, I should have drilled the previous tank for a return. Got the overflow siliconed on, got the starboard siliconed down and siliconed around the edges to prevent stuff from getting underneath it, painted the background. Got the bulkheads installed. Next up is to repaint the top of my stand so we can bring the tank back over to my place. Here is where we're at now. It's really coming together nicely.

Sa..weeeet. looks awesome so far man. Glad you got your tank. I'm curious about the overflow, are you just siliconing to the glass? Also is this an interior or exterior overflow?, cant tell cause the back is painted blk. I just got finished building my interior overflow and it looks almost identical to your except mine is made outta smoked glass. Currently curing on the tank now. I take it you are running a bean animal system?

I planned to paint the rear glass as well, yours came out nice. I've been thinking of maybe doing a blue background or the growing trend of frosted. If I cant decide I may just go with blk. I have been seeing alot of builds going bb as well and using this starboard bottom. I gotta admit I kinda like the look and may think of doing something similar.

Nice work mang, still following

Thanks man! Yeah it's just siliconed on the inside, between the black trim, the black background, black overflow and the black silicone holding the overflow on it all kind of blends together. Yeah it's a bean animal drain, the best option imo. Blue is cool, it definitely makes the tank look bigger and gives it alot of depth. I think that a black background makes the corals pop a little bit more and looks sleek imo. I was going to go with black starboard and actually did awhile back but I really like the way the white looks in there and, I'm convinced it will help reflect light to the underside of the corals.

Decided to repaint the stand. At first I was going to carefully sand it, prime it, paint and make it look perfect with high gloss black. Then I decided to do something a little different. I started sanding it down to bare wood, I then took a hammer, screw driver, chains, basically anything that would ding, dent, knick, scratch and scrape it. I then applied some black stain. I'm going for a antiqued look. I just think it's something different. So far I really like the way it's coming out. I was going to finish it last night but before I knew it, it was 11pm and Applebees 2 for 1 and half off appetizers was calling my name.

Yeah the lighting is one of the things I'm actually not changing this time.

Know how many times I've said the same thing? ;)

Well that didn't last long lol. New fixture housing and adding T5's. Okay so no drastic changes.

So quick votes lol. I am thinking a couple different things for this second tank.

- frag tank

-Super stable nano tank w/zoas

-Display fuge w/all sorts of macro

-Mangrove tank

So it's been awhile since I updated this thread. Started to fill the tank last Saturday when, oh the sump isn't holding water. Which is a blessing in disguise because I wanted a new sump anyways. So I picked up some 1/4 clear cell cast acrylic, had them cut it to size + finish all the edges. Now I've never, ever worked with acrylic before so I was infact a bit nervous but I am pretty pleased so far with how it's turned out. still taped because I literally just got done 30 minutes ago or so.

Sump is going to be 36x16x16

Added some of the baffles, one of the baffles is slightly uneven as I bumped it, it sits forward between 1/16" - 1/18", I suppose its not a huge deal but it's a little disappointing.

I almost made an acrylic sump, seeing yours make me wish I did! Looks great man. Im really happy with my BA overflow aswell, Im sure youll be happy with it

I'm also a little disappointed in the company who cut the acrylic. They cut it and then they said they edge prepped the acrylic, well I've never worked with acrylic so I did see small saw marks but I didn't think anything of it because I assumed that's how it was. So there are some parts in the seems where there are smaller bubbles and Im assuming it's from the edges. I think I am going to prepare the edges for the rest of the pieces I have left to add. I think I am going to take it there on Monday and explain to them that there are still saw marks in it.

Got another one of the baffles in, I still need to have the last one shaved down just a sliver so it will fit properly. This thing in no way compares to a professional made sump but I am fairly happy with it, being my first time ever working with acrylic or weldon.
